Question 1090: I acquire a lot of wealth, but it suddenly disappears! What could be the reason?!

✅ Answer: This can have various causes, which may not be known, but the reason mentioned in the following narrations can be one of its causes:
1 Imam Sadiq, peace be upon him, said: Indeed, zakat was instituted as a test for the rich and a help for the poor, and if people were to pay the zakat on their wealth, no Muslim would remain poor or in need, and he would become self-sufficient with what Allah has obligated for him. And indeed, people do not become poor, needy, hungry, or unclothed except because of the sins of the rich (by not paying zakat)! And it is a right upon Allah, the Blessed and Exalted, to withhold His mercy from whoever withholds Allah's right in his wealth! And I swear by the one who created the creation and spread the provision that no wealth is destroyed on land or at sea except by not paying zakat....!

Salim said: I heard Imam Sadiq, peace be upon him, say: No bird is hunted except by not praising Allah, and no wealth is afflicted with a calamity except by not paying zakat.
✅ It is observed that one of the important reasons for the destruction of wealth by being stolen, or by fire, or by being lost, or by being afflicted with a calamity and so on... is due to not paying zakat on that wealth, and the point worthy of attention is that the zakat on wealth has different meanings and aspects that must be known and paid. For example, pay attention to the following hadith:

6 عَنِ الْمُفَضَّلِ قال: كُنْتُ عِنْدَ أَبِي عَبْداللَّه فَسَأَلَهُ رَجُلٌ فِي كَمْ تَجِبُ الزَّكَاةُ مِنَ الْمَالِ فَقَالَ لَهُ الزَّكَاةَ الظَّاهِرَةَ أَمِ الْبَاطِنَةَ تُرِيدُ فَقَالَ أُرِيدُهُمَا جَمِيعاً فَقَالَ أَمَّا الظَّاهِرَةُ فَفِي كُلِّ أَلْفٍ خَمْسَةٌ وَ عِشْرُونَ وَ أَمَّا الْبَاطِنَةُ فَلَا تَسْتَأْثِرْ عَلَى أَخِيكَ بِمَا هُوَ أَحْوَجُ إِلَيْهِ مِنْكَ
Mufaddal said: I was sitting with Imam Sadiq, peace be upon him, when a man asked him: On what amount of wealth is zakat obligatory? The Imam said: Do you want the apparent zakat or the inner zakat?! He said: I want both!
The Imam said: In the apparent zakat, there is 25 dirhams of zakat for every thousand (dirhams), but the inner zakat is that you do not prioritize for yourself what your brother is in more need of than you!
✅ Yes! The rich people's neglect of the poor leads to the loss of wealth, and of course, if this does not happen due to divine wisdom, the person who neglects the types of zakat has no escape from the following matter:
7 Ahmad ibn Muhammad ibn Khalid from someone who narrated it in a raised manner said: When zakat is withheld, the condition of the poor and the rich becomes bad. I said: This poor person's condition becomes bad because his right is withheld from him, but why does the rich person's condition become bad? He said: The condition of the rich person who withholds zakat will become bad in the Hereafter.

It is narrated in a raised manner from the Imam, peace be upon him, that he said: When zakat is withheld, the condition of the poor and the rich becomes bad!
I said: The poor person's condition becomes bad because his right is withheld from him, but what about the rich person?! He said: The condition of the one who withholds zakat will become bad on the Day of Judgment!
