Imam al-Sadiq, blessings of God be upon him, said in a hadith: As for what is permissible to eat from the meat of living beings, it consists of: the meat of cows, sheep, and camels, and what is permissible from the meat of (some) wild animals, and what does not have fangs or claws, and the meat of all birds that have a crop is permissible to eat, and what does not have a crop is forbidden to eat, and there is no harm in eating all kinds of locusts....

4 Muhammad ibn al-Hasan ibn Allan said: I asked Abul Hasan about the metamorphosed creatures; he said: There were twelve kinds and they have reasons... until he said: As for the hornet, he was a butcher who cheated in the scales!

Imam al-Sadiq, blessings of God be upon him, narrated from his ancestors that the Commander of the Faithful, blessings of God be upon him, was asked about a fly that enters the throat of a fasting person; the Imam said: He is not obligated to make up the fast, because a fly is not food!

Abul Haytham said: The Commander of the Faithful, blessings of God be upon him, gave a sermon to the people in Medina... until he said: Then the Commander of the Faithful came out of the mosque and passed by a pen that had about 30 sheep in it and said: By God! If I had men who would be sincere to God and His Messenger in the number of these sheep, I would have removed the son of the fly-eater woman (i.e., the first usurper) from power!
✅ According to the above narrations and others, the Ahl al-Bayt, peace be upon them, have not considered insects as permissible food for humans, and they have forbidden and condemned eating them in various ways, and some of them have been explicitly forbidden as metamorphosed creatures.
✅ Today, unbelievers and even some who claim to be Muslims are busy promoting or normalizing the eating of insects as food and protein for humans. In the meantime, Shi'ites must be aware and protect themselves from this temptation by learning the knowledge of the Ahl al-Bayt.
