1 عِدَّةٌ مِنْ أَصْحَابِنَا عَنْ أَحْمَدَ بْنِ مُحَمَّدٍ عَنِ الْحَسَنِ بْنِ عَلِیٍّ عَنْ رَجُلٍ یُسَمَّی سَوَادَةَ قَالَ: کُنَّا جَمَاعَةً بِمِنًی فَعَزَّتِ الْأَضَاحِیُّ فَنَظَرْنَا فَإِذَا أَبُو عَبْدِاللَّه وَاقِفٌ عَلَی قَطِیعٍ یُسَاوِمُ بِغَنَمٍ وَ یُمَاکِسُهُمْ مِکَاساً شَدِیداً فَوَقَفْنَا نَنْتَظِرُ فَلَمَّا فَرَغَ أَقْبَلَ عَلَیْنَا فَقَالَ أَظُنُّکُمْ قَدْ تَعَجَّبْتُمْ مِنْ مِکَاسِی فَقُلْنَا نَعَمْ فَقَالَ إِنَّ الْمَغْبُونَ لَا مَحْمُودٌ وَ لَا مَأْجُورٌ

Sawadah said: We were a group in Mina, and the sacrificial sheep had become scarce, and we saw Imam Sadiq (peace be upon him) standing next to a flock and haggling intensely over the price of a sheep!
We waited, and when the Imam was finished, he turned to us and said: 'Are you surprised by my haggling?' We said: 'Yes!' The Imam said: 'The one who loses in a transaction is neither worthy of praise nor does he receive a reward!'
2 عَنِ الْحُسَیْنِ بْنِ یَزِیدَ قَالَ: سَمِعْتُ أَبَا عَبْدِ اللَّهِ یَقُولُ وَ قَدْ قَالَ لَهُ أَبُو حَنِیفَةَ عَجِبَ النَّاسُ مِنْکَ أَمْسِ وَ أَنْتَ بِعَرَفَةَ تُمَاکِسُ النَّاسَ بِبُدْنِکَ أَشَدَّ مِکَاسٍ یَکُونُ قَالَ فَقَالَ أَبُو عَبْدِ اللَّهِ وَ مَا لِلَّهِ مِنَ الرِّضَا أَنْ أُغْبَنَ فِی مَالِی قَالَ فَقَالَ أَبُو حَنِیفَةَ لَا وَ اللَّهِ وَ مَا لِلَّهِ فِی هَذَا مِنَ الرِّضَا قَلِیلٌ وَ لَا کَثِیرٌ وَ مَا نَجِیئُکَ بِشَیْءٍ إِلَّا جِئْتَنَا بِمَا لَا مَخْرَجَ لَنَا مِنْهُ.

Husayn ibn Yazid said: Abu Hanifa said to Imam Sadiq (peace be upon him): 'Yesterday when you were in Arafat and were haggling with the most intense haggling to buy a sacrifice, the people were surprised by you!'
So Imam Sadiq (peace be upon him) said: 'It is not the pleasure and contentment of Allah that I should lose in my wealth!' So Abu Hanifa said: 'Yes! Neither little nor much in this matter is the pleasure of God, and we do not bring anything against you (as an objection) except that you bring something for us from which we have no way out!'
3 مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَلِیِّ بْنِ الْحُسَیْنِ قَالَ: قَالَ أَبُو جَعْفَرٍ مَاکِسِ الْمُشْتَرِیَ فَإِنَّهُ أَطْیَبُ لِلنَّفْسِ وَ إِنْ أَعْطَی الْجَزِیلَ فَإِنَّ الْمَغْبُونَ فِی بَیْعِهِ وَ شِرَائِهِ غَیْرُ مَحْمُودٍ وَ لَا مَأْجُورٍ.

Imam Baqir (peace be upon him) said: 'Haggle with the customer even if he is paying a large amount, for this creates more satisfaction, because the person who loses in his selling and buying is neither worthy of praise nor is he given a reward!'
4 عَنِ الرِّضَا عَنْ آبَائِهِ قَالَ: الْمَغْبُونُ لَا مَحْمُودٌ وَ لَا مَأْجُورٌ.

Imam Rida (peace be upon him) said: 'The person who is cheated and suffers a loss is neither worthy of praise nor does he have a reward!'
5 عَنْ حَمَّادِ بْنِ عَمْرٍو وَ أَنَسِ بْنِ مُحَمَّدٍ عن أبیه جميعا عَنْ جَعْفَرِ بْنِ مُحَمَّدٍ عَنْ أَبِیهِ عَنْ آبَائِهِ فِی وَصِیَّةِ النَّبِیِّ لِعَلِیٍّ قَالَ: یَا عَلِیُّ لَا تُمَاکِسْ فِی أَرْبَعَةِ أَشْیَاءَ فِی شِرَاءِ الْأُضْحِیَّةِ وَ الْکَفَنِ وَ النَّسَمَةِ وَ الْکِرَاءِ إِلَی مَکَّةَ.
📚Al-Faqih, Vol. 4, p. 370
The Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him and his family) in his will to the Commander of the Faithful (peace be upon him) said: 'Do not haggle over four things: the purchase of a sacrifice, a shroud, the purchase of a slave, and the fare for travel to Mecca!'
✅Based on the above narrations and others, haggling in a transaction for the buyer and seller to be protected from being cheated and from loss is permitted, and it is even encouraged and recommended, and it is considered to lead to satisfaction and to be protected from loss in a transaction.
Although haggling for the purchase of a sacrifice is forbidden, its permission for protection from being cheated has been mentioned in the above narrations.

اللَّهُمَّ صَلِّ عَلَی مُحَمَّدٍ وَ آلِ مُحَمَّدٍ وَ عَجِّلْ لِوَلِیِّکَ الْفَرَجَ وَ الْعَافِیَةَ وَ النَّصْر
