Jabir said: I heard Imam Baqir (peace be upon him) say: 'There is no adhan and iqama for women... and it is not for them to shave their heads (in Hajj and Umrah), and indeed they shorten their hair... and it is not permissible for her to imitate men, because the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him and his family) cursed the men who imitate women and the women who imitate men!'
📚 Ja'fariyat, p. 99
Ali (peace be upon him) said: A woman came to the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him and his family) and said: 'O Messenger of Allah, I have a husband who was rough and harsh towards me, and I have done something to make him kind and affectionate towards me!'
The Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him and his family) said to her: 'Woe to you! You have been ungrateful and unthankful to your religion. The angels of the heavens have cursed you, the angels of the earth have cursed you!'
So the woman fasted during the day and prayed at night and wore rough clothes, and then she shaved her head (to be forgiven)!
This news reached the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him and his family), so he said: 'Indeed, her shaving of the head will not be accepted from her!'
✅ According to the above narrations and others, a woman's hair is one of her beauties, and it is not permissible to shave it in any place, nor is it recommended. Even in Hajj and Umrah, shaving is not prescribed for them, and they are assigned the duty of shortening a small amount of their hair. Shaving hair is not accepted for a woman even for the sake of repentance, and in many narrations, women who imitate men have been cursed and condemned.
✅ Of course, in narrations, shaving the head of a newborn is mentioned as one of the traditions of the seventh day, and it includes both male and female newborns.
