Question 709: Can we perform the Ja'far prayer as two ordinary two-rak'ah prayers and then say its 300 'tasbihat' all together after the prayer?
Answer
✅Answer: Please pay attention to the following narrations:
📚Al-Kafi, Vol. 3, p. 466
Aban said: I heard Imam Sadiq (peace be upon him) say: 'Whoever has a rush and an urgent necessity, he performs the Ja'far prayer without the 'tasbih', then he makes up the 'tasbihat' while he is attending to his needs!'
📚Al-Faqih, Vol. 1, p. 554
Imam Sadiq (peace be upon him) said: 'When you have a rush and an urgent necessity, perform the Ja'far prayer without the 'tasbih', then make up the 'tasbihat'!'
✅A person who is in a hurry, meaning someone who has a rush, haste, and an urgent necessity, if he intends to perform the Ja'far prayer, he can perform it without the 300 'tasbihat' and then make up its 'tasbihat', but in a normal state, there is no permission for this, and a person who wants to perform the Ja'far prayer must say its 300 'tasbihat' in their proper place as it has been mentioned in the etiquette of this prayer.
✅One of the places where the two above narrations apply is for those who, in imitation of the tradition of Imam Rida (peace be upon him) in hadith 📚'Uyun Akhbar al-Rida, Vol. 2, p. 181, perform the second and third two 'rak'ahs' of the night prayer as the Ja'far prayer.
Such people, if they have little time and due to the approaching dawn have no time to say the 300 'tasbihat' of the Ja'far prayer, they perform the Ja'far prayer without its 'tasbihat' and make up its 'tasbihat' at their convenience.

Waking up sleeping people for prayer
Question 710: Is there a basis for waking up a sleeping person for prayer, or should we not wake them up on the basis that a sleeping person has no duty?
✅ Answer: Some have said:
'Since there is no duty on individuals while they are sleeping, and on the other hand, sleeping is one of the personal rights of every individual, it is therefore not permissible to wake someone up from sleep - even for prayer - unless we have knowledge of his consent to be woken up!'
✅ 👈 But let's see what the method, action, and speech of the Ahl al-Bayt (peace be upon them) was:
📚Qurb al-Isnad, p. 67
Imam Sadiq (peace be upon him) narrated from his father Imam Baqir (peace be upon him) that Ali ibn Abi Talib (peace be upon him) came out to wake up the people for the Fajr prayer, so Ibn Muljam (may Allah's curse be upon him) struck him (with a sword)!
📚'Ilal al-Shara'i', Vol. 2, p. 53
Ali ibn Asbat asked Imam Sadiq (peace be upon him) about a man who rises at the end of the night and raises his voice with the recitation of the Qur'an; the Imam said: 'It is appropriate for a person when he is praying at night to let his family hear it so that the sleeping ones may rise and the motionless ones may move!'
📚Al-Tahdhib, Vol. 2, p. 127
Mu'awiyah ibn 'Ammar said: I said to Imam Sadiq (peace be upon him): 'What is the ruling on saying 'salam' at the end of the two 'rak'ahs' of the 'Witr' prayer?' He said: '(Yes, even) it wakes up a sleeping person and he can speak about his need!'
📚Al-Tahdhib, Vol. 2, p. 128
Mu'awiyah ibn 'Ammar said: (Imam Sadiq, peace be upon him) said to me: 'In the 'Witr' prayer, recite Surah 'Qul Huwa Allahu Ahad' in each of the three 'rak'ahs' and say 'salam' at the end of its two 'rak'ahs' (and in between) you wake up the sleeping person and command him to pray!'
✅The 'Witr' prayer is said to be the three 'rak'ahs' that are performed after the night prayer. There has been a disagreement about whether one should say 'salam' at the end of its two 'rak'ahs' and perform the other 'rak'ah' separately. However, according to the teachings of the Ahl al-Bayt, among the Shi'a, there is no doubt that the first two 'rak'ahs', which are also called 'shaf'' are performed separately with 'tashahhud' and 'salam', and a person can do various things between these two 'rak'ahs' and the one 'rak'ah' known as the 'Witr' prayer, including waking up sleeping people and commanding them to pray.

📚'Uyun Akhbar al-Rida (peace be upon him), Vol. 2, p. 179, hadith 3
Muhammad ibn Yahya al-Suli said: My grandmother, the mother of my father, whose name was 'Udhrah, narrated to me that: 'I was bought along with a number of slave girls from Kufa, and I was one of the slave girls who was born in Kufa and had grown up with the children of the people of Kufa and had been raised with them. So we were transported to Ma'mun, and we were in the house of Ma'mun in a paradise of food, drink, good fragrance, and an abundance of gold coins!'
'Then Ma'mun gifted me to Imam Rida (peace be upon him), so when I went to the house of Imam Rida (peace be upon him), I lost all the blessings that I was in! And a female guardian was over us who would wake us up at night and make us pray, and this was one of the hardest things for us!'
📚Al-Tahdhib, Vol. 2, p. 39
Abu Basir said: I asked Imam Sadiq (peace be upon him) about a fasting person, when does eating become forbidden for him? He said: 'When the dawn is like white Egyptian cloths.'
I said: 'When is it permissible to perform the Fajr prayer?' He said: 'At that very moment!'
I said: 'Do I not have time (for the Fajr prayer) from that moment (meaning the rising and whitening of the dawn) until sunrise?' He said: 'No! We consider that the prayer of children!'
Then he said: 'Indeed, a man is not praised who performs his prayer in the mosque and then returns and wakes up his wife and children!' (meaning he should wake them up sooner)

📚Al-Bihar, Vol. 42, p. 281
Abu al-Hasan al-Bakri said in a long hadith about the martyrdom of the Commander of the Faithful (peace be upon him): 'Among the noble manners of the Commander of the Faithful (peace be upon him) was that he would search for and follow up with the sleeping people in the mosque and he would say to the sleeping people:
Prayer, may Allah have mercy on you, prayer, rise towards the prayer that is an obligation upon you!
'Indeed, prayer restrains from indecency and evil'
So that night as well (meaning the night of the 19th of Ramadan), according to his usual habit with the sleeping people in the mosque, he did that, meaning waking up the sleeping people, until he reached the cursed Ibn Muljam and saw that he was sleeping on his face! So he said to him: 'Rise from this sleep of yours, for this is a sleep that Allah hates (meaning sleeping on the face) and this is the sleep of Satan and the sleep of the people of the fire, rather sleep on your right hand which is the sleep of the scholars or sleep on your left hand which is the sleep of the wise and do not sleep on your back which is the sleep of the prophets!'
📚Ja'fariyyat, p. 53
Imam Baqir (peace be upon him) said: 'Ali (peace be upon him) used to go out for the Fajr prayer while he had a whip in his hand. So he would wake up the people with it, so the cursed Ibn Muljam struck him.'
✅In the above narrations, it is clear that waking up sleeping people for prayer was done by the Ahl al-Bayt themselves (peace be upon them) for the people, and its permission and license have also been narrated for us, especially regarding family and children, according to which we wake up sleeping people for prayer at prayer times so that they may perform their prayer.
✅Some people refuse to wake up sleeping people for prayer or even consider it forbidden, based on the irrelevant argument that the pen is lifted from a sleeping person. This is an irrelevant argument in light of the above narrations, and the lifting of the pen from a sleeping person until he wakes up has no connection with the tradition of waking up a sleeping person for prayer, and therefore, at the times of obligatory prayer and even the night prayer, we wake up sleeping people, especially women and children, to perform the prayer.
