📚 Al-Tahdhib, vol. 3, page 268
Imam Sadiq (peace be upon him) said: 'A woman can lead women in prayer, and she stands in their midst, with the followers standing to her right and left. And she can lead them in a supererogatory prayer (i.e., a prayer whose congregation is supererogatory, such as the five daily prayers), but she cannot lead them in an obligatory prayer (i.e., a prayer whose congregation is obligatory, such as the Friday and Eid prayers).'
📚 Al-Tahdhib, vol. 3, page 31
Imam Sadiq (peace be upon him) was asked about a man leading a woman in prayer. He said: 'Yes, and the woman stands behind the man.' And he was asked about a woman leading women in prayer. He said: 'Yes, and the Imam stands in their midst and does not stand in front of them.'
📚 Al-Tahdhib, vol. 3, page 278
Ali ibn Ja'far said: I asked Musa ibn Ja'far (peace be upon him) about a woman who leads women in prayer, how loud should her voice be for the recitation and the takbir? He said: 'As much as she can hear it.'
📚 Al-Tahdhib, vol. 3, page 31
Sama'a said: I asked Imam Sadiq (peace be upon him) about a woman who leads women in prayer; he said: 'There is no problem with it.'
📚 Al-Faqih, vol. 1, page 166
Imam Sadiq (peace be upon him) was asked: 'How should women pray over a deceased person when there is no man with them?' He said: 'They all stand in one row, and no woman stands in front of them.' It was said: 'Should one of them lead the others in an obligatory prayer?' He said: 'Yes.'
📚 Al-Kafi, vol. 3, page 179
Imam Baqir (peace be upon him) said: 'When there is no man present with the deceased, a woman goes forward in their midst, and the women stand to her right and left, and she says the takbir in their midst until she finishes the prayer.'
✅ The majority of the Sunni school consider it forbidden or discouraged for a woman to lead women in obligatory prayers, and a few narrations whose apparent meaning is to prohibit a woman from leading women in obligatory prayers are in agreement with the majority of the Sunni school.
✅ In the existing narrations, it is only permissible for a woman to lead women in prayer, and there is no permission for a woman to lead men.
✅ Leading the Friday and Eid prayers, which are obligatory congregational prayers, is not permitted in the above narrations and others.
✅ As mentioned in the above narrations, women in a congregational prayer all stand in one row, and their Imam does not stand in front of them but rather stands in their midst and in the same row as them, with the followers standing to her right and left.
✅ It is obvious that the conditions that the Ahl al-Bayt (peace be upon them) have made necessary for a congregational Imam are also necessary for a woman who wants to lead women in prayer.
