1 عن عمار قال: کُنْتُ عِنْد أَبِی عَبْداللَّه علیه السلام فقال رَجُلٌ اللَّهُمَّ صَلِّ عَلَی مُحَمَّدٍ وَ أَهْلِ بَیْتِ مُحَمَّدٍ فَقَال أَبُوعَبْداللَّه علیه السلام یا هَذَا لَقَدْ ضَیَّقْتَ عَلَیْنَا أَمَا عَلِمْتَ أَنَّ أَهْلَ الْبَیْتِ خَمْسَةٌ أَصْحَابُ الْکِسَاءِ فَقَالَ الرَّجُلُ کَیْفَ أَقُولُ قَال قُل اللَّهُمَّ صَلِّ عَلَی مُحَمَّدٍ و آلِ مُحَمَّدٍ فَنَکُونَ نَحْنُ و شِیعَتُنَا قَدْ دَخَلْنَا فِیه

Ammar said: 'I was with Imam Sadiq (peace be upon him) when a man said:

اللَّهُمَّ صَلِّ عَلَی مُحَمَّدٍ وَ أَهْلِ بَیْتِ مُحَمَّدٍ

'O Allah, bless Muhammad and his Ahl al-Bayt.'

اللَّهُمَّ صَلِّ عَلَی مُحَمَّدٍ وَ آلِ مُحَمَّدٍ

Imam Sadiq (peace be upon him) said: 'O so-and-so, you have made the circle narrow for us! Do you not know that the Ahl al-Bayt are the five people of the cloak?' The man said: 'Then how should I say it?' The Imam said: 'Say:

'O Allah, bless Muhammad and the family of Muhammad.'

so that we and our Shi'a are also included in it!'

2 عمر بن یزید قال قال أبوعبداللَّه: یَا ابْنَ یَزِید أَنْتَ واللَّهِ مِنَّا أَهْلَ الْبَیْتِ قُلْتُ جُعِلْتُ فِدَاکَ مِنْ آلِ مُحَمَّدٍ قَالَ إِی وَ اللَّهِ مِنْ أَنْفُسِهِمْ قُلْتُ مِنْ أَنْفُسِهِمْ جُعِلْتُ فِدَاکَ قَالَ إِی واللَّهِ مِنْ أَنْفُسِهِمْ یَا عُمَرُ أَمَا تَقْرَأُ کِتَابَ اللَّهِ عَزَّوَجَل إِنَّ أَوْلَی النَّاس بِإِبْراهِیمَ لَلَّذِینَ اتَّبَعُوهُ و هذَا النَّبِیُّ و الَّذِینَ آمَنُوا وَ اللَّهُ وَلِیُّ الْمُؤْمِنِین أَ و مَا تَقْرَأُ قَوْلَ اللَّهِ عَزَّ اسْمُهُ فَمَنْ تَبِعَنِی فَإِنَّهُ مِنِّی و مَنْ عَصانِی فَإِنَّکَ غَفُورٌ رَحِیمٌ

3 عن سدیرقال قَالَ أَبوعبداللَّه علیه السلام: أَنْتُمْ آلُ مُحَمَّدٍ أَنْتُمْ آلُ مُحَمَّدٍ

I said: 'May I be sacrificed for you, am I from the family of Muhammad?' He said: 'Yes, by Allah, you are from them!' I said: 'May I be sacrificed for you, am I from them?' He said: 'Yes, by Allah, you are from them! Have you not read the Quran where it says: 'Indeed, the most deserving of people of Abraham are those who followed him and this Prophet and those who have believed, and Allah is the protector of the believers'?'

And do you not read the saying of Allah which says: 'So whoever follows me, he is from me, and whoever disobeys me, then indeed You are Forgiving and Merciful'?'

Imam Sadiq (peace be upon him) said: 'O Sudayr, you (the Shi'a) are the family of Muhammad! You are the family of Muhammad!'

4 Sa'd ibn Abd al-Malik (al-Umawi), who was one of the descendants of Abd al-Aziz ibn Marwan and whom Imam Baqir (peace be upon him) used to call Sa'd al-Khayr, came to the Imam. While he was crying like women, the Imam said to him: 'O Sa'd, what makes you cry?' He said: 'How can I not cry when I am from the cursed tree in the Quran (i.e., the Banu Umayyah)?!'

The Imam said: 'You are not from them! You are an Umayyad from us, the Ahl al-Bayt! Have you not heard the saying of Allah in the story of Abraham's words when he said: 'So whoever follows me, he is from me'?'

أللَّهُمَّ وَصَلِّ عَلَى أَوْلِيآئِهِمُ الْمُعْتَرِفِينَ بِمَقَامِهِمْ الْمُتَّبِعِينَ مَنْهَجَهُمْ الْمُقْتَفِيْنَ آثَارَهُمْ الْمُسْتَمْسِكِينَ بِعُرْوَتِهِمْ الْمُتَمَسِّكِينَ بِوَلَايَتِهِمْ الْمُؤْتَمِّينَ بِإمَامَتِهِمْ الْمُسَلِّمِينَ لِأَمْرِهِمْ الْمُجْتَهِدِيْنَ فِي طاعَتِهِمْ الْمُنْتَظِرِيْنَ أَيَّامَهُمْ الْمَادِّينَ إلَيْهِمْ أَعْيُنَهُمْ الصَّلَوَاتِ الْمُبَارَكَاتِ الزَّاكِيَاتِ النَّامِيَات الغَادِيَاتِ الرّائِحَاتِ وَسَلِّمْ عَلَيْهِمْ وَعَلى أَرْوَاحِهِمْ وَاجْمَعْ عَلى التَّقْوَى أَمْرَهُمْ وَأَصْلِحْ لَهُمْ شُؤُونَهُمْ وَتُبْ عَلَيْهِمْ إنَّكَ أَنْتَ التَّوَّابُ الرَّحِيمُ وَخَيْرُ الْغَافِرِينَ وَاجْعَلْنَا مَعَهُمْ في دارِ السَّلَامِ بِرَحْمَتِكَ يَا أَرْحَمَ الرَّاحِمِين
