📚 Al-Kafi Vol. 4, p. 115, narration 1.
Imam Sadiq (peace be upon him) said: It is not a problem for a person who is fasting to swallow their 'nukhamah' (meaning phlegm from the chest and nose).
✅ 'Nukhamah' refers to the sticky phlegm or mucus that collects in the chest and nose, is brought to the mouth from the back of the nose or from the chest, and is then expelled.
✅ The above narration states that if a person swallows this phlegm from the nose or chest, there is no problem.

📚 Al-Muhit fi al-Lughah (The Ocean of Language)
'Nukhamah' is what comes out from the end of the nose when it is expelled.

📚 Lisan al-Arab (The Tongue of the Arabs)
'Nukhamah' is the act of expelling it from the chest and nose, and the thing that is expelled from this place, meaning the chest and nose, is called 'nukhamah'.
✅ Al-Turayhi, in his book 'Majma' al-Bahrayn', defined 'nukhamah' as the phlegm that a person expels from the place of pronunciation of the letter 'kha' in their throat.
