Question 467: What is the duty of a person who gets sick and cannot fast for the rest of his life because of the illness?

Answer
✅Answer:
📚 Al-Kafi, Vol. 4, p. 123
Muhammad ibn Muslim said: I asked one of the two Imams, Baqir and Sadiq, peace be upon them, about a person whom the month of Ramadan overtakes while he is sick and he dies before recovering. The Imam said: Nothing is upon him, but the one who recovers from the illness and dies before making up his fasts, his fasts are to be made up on his behalf.
📚 Al-Tahdheeb, Vol. 4, p. 248
Imam Sadiq, peace be upon him, said: When a person fasts a part of the month of Ramadan and then remains sick until he dies, nothing is upon him. But if he recovers and then gets sick again and dies and has wealth, for every day, a mudd of food is given as charity on his behalf. And if he has no wealth, his guardian gives this charity on his behalf.
3 Mansur said: I asked Imam Sadiq, peace be upon him, about a person who is sick in the month of Ramadan and does not recover until he dies. The Imam said: (His fasts) are not to be made up on his behalf. And regarding a menstruating woman who dies in the month of Ramadan, he said: Her fasts are not to be made up on her behalf either.
📚 Al-Tahdheeb, Vol. 4, p. 247
📚 Al-Tahdheeb, Vol. 4, p. 249
Imam Sadiq, peace be upon him, regarding a person who travels in the month of Ramadan and dies, said: His fasts are to be made up on his behalf. And if a woman menstruates in the month of Ramadan and dies, her fasts are not to be made up on her behalf. And a sick person in the month of Ramadan who does not recover and dies, his fasts are not to be made up on his behalf.
5 Imam Sadiq, peace be upon him, regarding a person who dies in the month of Ramadan, said: It is not the duty of his guardian to make up the rest of the month of Ramadan for him. And if he gets sick and does not fast in the month of Ramadan until the month of Ramadan ends while he is still sick, and he dies in the same illness, it is not the duty of his guardian to make up his fasts on his behalf. But if he gets sick and does not fast in the month of Ramadan, and then recovers and does not make it up, and then gets sick and dies, it is the duty of his guardian to make up his fasts, because he had recovered and did not make up his fasts even though it was obligatory upon him.

📚 Al-Tahdheeb, Vol. 4, p. 247
Sama'ah said: I said to Imam Sadiq, peace be upon him: The month of Ramadan begins for a woman in her postnatal bleeding period (nufasa'), and she is not able to fast, and she dies in the month of Ramadan or the month of Shawwal (without being able to make up the fasts). He said: They are not to be made up on her behalf.
✅It is clear from the above narrations that if a person becomes sick and remains sick until the end of his life, there is nothing upon him or his guardian regarding his fasts. But if he recovers after the illness, it is obligatory for him to make up his fasts. If he neglects to do so, his guardian must make up his fasts and, in addition, give a mudd of food as charity from the deceased's wealth for every missed day. If the deceased had no wealth, the guardian gives that charity from his own wealth for the deceased.
✅A menstruating woman and a woman in her postnatal bleeding period who die in the month of Ramadan or before they are able to make up the fasts, according to the above narrations, do not have to have their fasts made up. But a person who was a traveler in the month of Ramadan and died, his fasts are to be made up on his behalf.
✅In narration 2, the version in Al-Kafi instead of 'saddaqa' (gave charity) is 'sama' (fasted), which according to it, under the conditions mentioned in that hadith, the charity of a mudd of food is dropped, and only the deceased's fasts are to be made up. However, for caution and based on some narrative supports, the version in Tahdheeb was mentioned.

Question 468: What is 'idha'ah al-hadith'?
✅Answer: 'Idha'ah' linguistically means to reveal, to make known, and to spread. 'Idha'ah al-hadith' means to reveal, to make known, and to tell hadiths to people who are not worthy of them.
✅This matter is of great importance, and it is necessary for all those who are involved with hadith to know its etiquette and observe it.
✅Please pay attention to some of the narrations on this very important matter:

Madrak ibn Hazhaz said: Imam Sadiq, peace be upon him, said: O Madrak! Our matter is not only about accepting it, but also about protecting and concealing it from those who are not its people.
Convey my salaam, the mercy of Allah, and His blessings to our companions and tell them: May Allah have mercy on a person who draws the people's love toward us by telling them a hadith that they recognize (so that it is not strange or unknown to them) and refrains from telling them what they find strange and unknown.

Indeed, our knowledge, the knowledge of the Ahl al-Bayt, will soon be denied and invalidated by the people, and its narrators will be killed, and whoever speaks of it will be treated badly, out of oppression and envy for what Allah has bestowed upon the family of the successor, that is, the successor of the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him.

Hafs said: I went to Imam Sadiq, peace be upon him, and he said to me: O Hafs, I had told some things to Mu'alla, and he spread them and was afflicted by iron and the sword. I had told him that we have a word (hadith) that whoever keeps it, Allah will also protect him and protect his religion and his world from harm, and whoever reveals it, Allah will take his religion and his world from him. O Mu'alla, whoever keeps our difficult and problematic hadith a secret, Allah will place a light between his eyes and grant him honor among the people, and whoever reveals a small part of our hadith will not die until a weapon finds him (he will be killed with a weapon) or he dies in a state of confusion.

✅At the end of this discussion, I draw the attention of all believers to an important hadith:
📚 Tuhaf al-'Uqul, p. 228
Imam Sadiq, peace be upon him, said in a hadith: ...By Allah, the matter (of relief) came close three times, and you revealed our matter, and Allah delayed it! By Allah, you have no secret but that your enemy is more knowledgeable about it (because of the revelation)!
✅O friends of the Ahl al-Bayt, peace be upon them, revealing the matter, the secret, and the hadiths of the Ahl al-Bayt to the unworthy has been something that has delayed the matter of relief three times until the time of Imam Sadiq, peace be upon him, and it is something that is tantamount to denying the Ahl al-Bayt and their intentional murder. So let's strive more than before to keep it a secret from the deniers, the weak-willed, and the unworthy, lest we be severely harmed by this grave sin.
