1 عَنْ أَحْمَدَ بْنِ مُحَمَّدٍ عَنْ عَلِيِّ بْنِ الْحَكَمِ عَنْ سُلَيْمٍ الْفَرَّاءِ عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ مُسْلِمٍ عَنْ أَبِي جَعْفَرٍ فِي الصَّائِمِ يَكْتَحِلُ قَالَ لَا بَأْسَ بِهِ لَيْسَ بِطَعَامٍ وَ لَا شَرَابٍ.

📚 Al-Kafi, Vol. 4, p. 111

Imam Baqir (peace be upon him) said about a fasting person who applies kohl: There is no problem, it is neither food nor drink!

2 عَنِ الْحَسَنِ بْنِ ظَرِيفٍ عَنِ الْحُسَيْنِ بْنِ عُلْوَانَ عَنْ جَعْفَرٍ عَنْ أَبِيهِ أَنَّ عَلِيّاً كَانَ لَا يَرَى بَأْساً بِالْكُحْلِ لِلصَّائِمِ إِذَا لَمْ يَجِدْ طَعْمَهُ.

Imam Sadiq (peace be upon him) narrated from his father that he said: Ali (peace be upon him) saw no problem with kohl for a fasting person, provided that its taste and flavor are not felt.

3 عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ يَحْيَى عَنْ أَحْمَدَ بْنِ مُحَمَّدٍ عَنْ عُثْمَانَ بْنِ عِيسَى عَنْ سَمَاعَةَ بْنِ مِهْرَانَ قَالَ: سَأَلْتُهُ عَنِ الْكُحْلِ لِلصَّائِمِ فَقَالَ إِذَا كَانَ كُحْلًا لَيْسَ فِيهِ مِسْكٌ وَ لَيْسَ لَهُ طَعْمٌ فِي الْحَلْقِ فَلَا بَأْسَ بِهِ

Sam'ah said: I asked (Imam Sadiq, peace be upon him) about kohl for a fasting person; the Imam said: There is no problem if it is a kohl that does not contain musk and does not have a taste or flavor in the throat.

4 عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ مُسْلِمٍ عَنْ أَحَدِهِمَا أَنَّهُ سُئِلَ عَنِ الْمَرْأَةِ تَكْتَحِلُ وَ هِيَ صَائِمَةٌ فَقَالَ إِذَا لَمْ يَكُنْ كُحْلًا تَجِدُ لَهُ طَعْماً فِي حَلْقِهَا فَلَا بَأْسَ.

Muhammad ibn Muslim said: One of the two Imams, Sadiq and Baqir (peace be upon them), was asked about a woman who applies kohl while fasting; the Imam said: There is no problem when it is a kohl whose taste and flavor are not felt in her throat.

✅ It is clearly apparent from the above narrations that kohl is without a problem for a fasting person if its taste and flavor are not felt in the throat and it does not contain musk.
