Question 448: Are there any recommendations, rewards, or merits for welcoming a pilgrim returning from Karbala, Hajj, or Umrah?
Answer
✅Answer:
📚 Al-Bihar, Vol. 83, p. 21
Ibrahim ibn Musa al-Qazzaz, who was the Imam in the Masjid al-Ridha in Khurasan, said: I was persistent in a request I had from Imam Reza (peace be upon him). The Imam went out to welcome one of the Sadat (descendants of the Prophet), and the time for prayer arrived. The Imam leaned towards a stone house that was there and alighted near that palace under a large rock, and I was with the Imam, and there was no third person with us. The Imam said to me: Say the Adhan! I said: Will you wait for some of the companions to join us? The Imam said: May God forgive you, never delay the prayer from the beginning of its time to the end of its time without a reason, and always be keen on the beginning of the time. So I said the Adhan and we prayed.

Imam Hasan al-Askari (peace be upon him) said: When Ja'far ibn Abi Talib came from Abyssinia, the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him and his family) stood up for him and went 12 steps to welcome him and embraced him and kissed him between his two eyes and said: I do not know which of these two makes me happier: your arrival, O Ja'far, or that Allah has granted your brother (Ali, peace be upon him) victory over Khaybar, and he cried out of joy from seeing him.

Hammad ibn Uthman said: I said to Imam Sadiq (peace be upon him): News of the arrival of a man from my companions from Aw'as (which is a place near Medina) reaches me, and this matter is in the month of Ramadan, should I go to welcome him and break my fast (because I become a traveler)? The Imam said: Yes. I said: Is it more virtuous for me to go and welcome him and break my fast or to stay and fast? The Imam said: Go and welcome him and break your fast!

Isma'il ibn Jabir said: I asked Imam Sadiq (peace be upon him) for permission to go to the land of Aw'as to welcome Walid (who was one of the companions) while we were fasting in the month of Ramadan. The Imam said: Go and welcome him and break your fast!
✅ In the above narrations, it is observed that welcoming a traveler is an act that the Infallibles themselves performed and also instructed their companions to perform.
✅ Welcoming a traveler means that when a traveler is approaching the city, we go a certain distance to welcome him and meet him there, which, according to narrations 3 and 4 , can be to the extent that a person's prayer becomes shortened and his fast is broken, and according to the words of Imam Sadiq (peace be upon him), even if it is the month of Ramadan, it is more virtuous to go and welcome the traveler and break our fast.
✅ It is clear from the above narrations that welcoming a traveler is not specific to those returning from Karbala, Hajj, and Umrah, but includes all travel, and based on that, we can go to welcome believers who are returning from a trip.
✅ The narrations on accompanying a traveler and a guest will be mentioned separately, Inshallah.
In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful,
And may Allah's peace be upon Muhammad and upon his pure household
✅ One of the matters that is very regrettable is that despite the existence of clear verses and narrations for the time of the Fajr (morning) prayer in the blessed Shia jurisprudence, for a long time, the lovers of the Ahl al-Bayt (peace be upon them), relying on the astronomical calculations of astronomers, have been performing their Fajr prayer at the wrong time, and few people are reminded of this great matter.
✅ This matter intensifies in the month of Ramadan, when the lovers of the Ahl al-Bayt are usually awake at the time of the official Fajr Adhan, and the vast majority of them perform their prayer according to the official Adhan, which there is no doubt is incorrect and at the wrong time, and in this way, people's prayers are wasted!
✅ Now it is our responsibility to awaken the people of submission and remind them of the legal time of the Fajr prayer so that they do not perform their prayer before the time enters and are saved from this great tribulation.
✅ Based on this, I request that the believers be diligent in spreading the narrations of the Fajr prayer time and explaining the mistake of the astronomers and send the prepared post on this matter to its people, so that, Inshallah, we perform the duty of enjoining good and forbidding evil and make aware those who are worthy of the great mistake of the media, calendars, geophysics experts, and even the Imams of the congregations, so that a great movement for correcting this corruption may be initiated.
✅ For this purpose, we are providing the link to the discussion on the Fajr prayer time so that you can send it to those you deem fit and be a partner in this correction.
✅ Of course, you can also use other prepared correct narrations and texts for this purpose, Inshallah.
✅ It is hoped that by delivering this important matter to its people, we will make our Master Imam Zaman (peace be upon him) happy.
✅ It should be noted that some of those who have realized this important matter and have raised points about it in some places have stated that the Fajr Adhan is said about 9 or 10 minutes too early! Whereas this statement is also wrong, and based on the experience of many believers over many years, there is a greater distance between the official Adhan and the legal time of the Fajr prayer, although it becomes a little less or more in different seasons and different places. But the point is that mentioning a specific time is generally not correct, and in every place, the time of the Fajr prayer is determined by looking at the horizon and applying it to the narrational criteria, and saying that you should pray a certain amount of time after the official Adhan is not a correct action, and the verses and narrations on this matter must be taught to the people so that they can determine the Fajr prayer time based on them and perform their prayer after the time enters.
