✅Answer: Please pay attention to the following narrations:

📚 Al-Kafi, vol. 5, p. 99

Imam Sadegh, peace be upon him, said:

'Whoever takes a debt and does not intend to pay it back is like a thief!'

📚 Al-Faqih, vol. 3, p. 183

Imam Sadegh, peace be upon him, said: 'Any person who goes to another and asks for a loan and his intention is not to pay it back, then he is an aggressive thief!'

📚 Al-Kafi, vol. 5, p. 99

Abdulghaffar Jazi said: I asked Imam Sadegh, peace be upon him, about a man who has died with a debt on him. He said: 'If something happens to him without his corruption, Allah will not hold him accountable, as long as Allah knows his intention.'

'Except for a person who does not want to pay back his trust, he is like a thief. And Zakat is also like this, and so is the one who considers it permissible to take the dowry of women!'

📚 Al-Kafi, vol. 5, p. 94

📚 Al-Faqih, vol. 3, p. 183

Abu Thumamah said: I said to Imam Jawad, peace be upon him, 'I want to settle in Mecca and Medina, while I have a debt.'

He said: 'Return to the place where your debt will be paid (or to your creditors) and strive and try so that you meet God without having any debt, because a believer does not betray!'

📚 Ma'ani al-Akhbar, p. 270

Imam Sajjad, peace be upon him, said in a narration: '...And the sins that remove the veil are: borrowing without the intention of paying back, and extravagance in spending on falsehood, and stinginess towards one's spouse, children, and relatives, and bad temper, and lack of patience, and being troubled (and having a short temper), and laziness, and belittling the people of religion.'

(Punishments for sins)

✅The importance of paying attention to repaying a loan is very great in the Shia narrations, a few of which were mentioned. It is worthy for believers to pay great attention to it because the inattention of some borrowers to pay their debts on time, and even the non-payment of debts by some individuals, has caused a lack of desire in good people to lend, and this has brought a lot of ugliness to the people of hadith. And one of the reasons for the lack of success and ability to pay a debt is the weakness of intention, which is mentioned in the following hadith: 👇

📚 Al-Kafi, vol. 5, p. 95

Ali ibn Ribat said: Imam Sadegh, peace be upon him, said: 'Whoever has a debt and intends to pay it back, two guardians from God will be with him to help him pay back his trust. So if he is negligent in his intention to pay back his debt, the help and assistance given to him will be reduced by the amount of his negligence in his intention!'

✅So, when we borrow, we should have a strong and firm intention to pay it back fully and on time so that help and assistance for its repayment reaches us, if Allah wills.

In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
