1️⃣ In some of our companions’ books, a summary states: A man came to the Prophet (peace be upon him) and said, "O Messenger of Allah, I used to be wealthy but became poor; I was healthy but fell ill; I was accepted by people but became disliked; I used to be light on their hearts but became heavy. When I was joyful, I gathered worries; the earth feels narrow despite its vastness. Throughout the day I wander seeking sustenance but cannot find what strengthens me, as if my name has been erased from the Book of Sustenance."
The Prophet (peace be upon him) replied, "Perhaps you are inheriting the burden of worries?" He answered, "What is the inheritance of worries?" The Prophet said, "Perhaps you are sitting and frowning, or standing with your trousers on, or biting your nails with your teeth, or wiping your face with a wet cloth to dry it, or urinating in stagnant water, or sleeping while lying on your face." He replied, "I do not do any of these." The Prophet (peace be upon him) said, "O man! Be conscious of God, purify your heart, and recite this supplication— the supplication of relief (Dua al-Faraj)."
When the man recited this supplication with sincere intention, he returned to his best state.
📚 Al‑Jannah al‑Waqiya, p.53
📚 Bahar al-Anwar vol.9, p.203
In the book *Jannah al‑Aman*, it is stated: In some of our companions’ books, I saw a summary that goes as follows:
A man approached the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) and said: "O Messenger of Allah! I used to be rich but became poor; I was healthy but fell ill; I was accepted by people but became disliked; I used to be light on their hearts but became heavy. When I was happy, sorrow accumulated upon me; the earth feels narrow despite its vastness. Throughout the day I wander in search of sustenance but cannot find what nourishes me! It seems my name has been erased from the Book of Sustenance!"
Then the Prophet (peace be upon him) said to him: "O man! Perhaps you are inheriting the burden of sorrow?" He replied, "What is the inheritance of sorrows?" The Prophet said: "Perhaps you are sitting with your head bent, or standing while wearing trousers, or biting your nails with your teeth, or wiping your face with a wet cloth to dry it, or urinating in stagnant water, or sleeping while lying on your face!"
He said: "I do not do any of these." Then the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) said: "O man! Practice divine piety, purify your inner self, and recite this supplication—the supplication of relief (Dua al-Faraj)."
So when that man recited this supplication and purified his intention, he returned to his best state!
