1 مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ یَحْیَی عَنْ أَحْمَدَ بْنِ مُحَمَّدٍ عَنْ عَلِیِّ بْنِ الْحَکَمِ عَنْ بَشِیرِ بْنِ حَمْزَةَ عَنْ رَجُلٍ مِنْ قُرَیْشٍ قَالَ: بَعَثَتْ إِلَیَّ ابْنَةُ عَمٍّ لِی کَانَ لَهَا مَالٌ کَثِیرٌ قَدْ عَرَفْتَ کَثْرَةَ مَنْ یَخْطُبُنِی مِنَ الرِّجَالِ فَلَمْ أُزَوِّجْهُمْ نَفْسِی وَ مَا بَعَثْتُ إِلَیْکَ رَغْبَةً فِی الرِّجَالِ غَیْرَ أَنَّهُ بَلَغَنِی أَنَّهُ أَحَلَّهَا اللَّهُ عَزَّ وَ جَلَّ فِی کِتَابِهِ وَ بَیَّنَهَا رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صلی الله علیه و آله فِی سُنَّتِهِ فَحَرَّمَهَا زُفَرُ فَأَحْبَبْتُ أَنْ أُطِیعَ اللَّهَ عَزَّ وَ جَلَّ فَوْقَ عَرْشِهِ وَ أُطِیعَ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صلی الله علیه و آله وَ أَعْصِیَ زُفَرَ فَتَزَوَّجْنِی مُتْعَةً فَقُلْتُ لَهَا حَتَّی أَدْخُلَ عَلَی أَبِی جَعْفَرٍ (علیه السلام) فَأَسْتَشِیرَهُ قَالَ فَدَخَلْتُ عَلَیْهِ فَخَبَّرْتُهُ فَقَالَ افْعَلْ صَلَّی اللَّهُ عَلَیْکُمَا مِنْ زَوْجٍ.

Bashir ibn Hamza narrates from a man of the Quraysh that he had a cousin who was wealthy and sent a message (or a person) to him with this content: 'You know that many men propose to me, but I do not marry them. I have not sent for you out of a desire for men, except that I have received a report that Allah the Almighty has made temporary marriage lawful in the Quran, and the Messenger of Allah, peace be upon him, has explained it in his tradition. But Zufar! has forbidden it! And I want to obey Allah the Almighty above His throne and the Messenger of Allah, peace be upon him, and disobey Zufar! So, perform a temporary marriage with me!
So I said to her: Wait until I meet Imam Baqir, peace be upon him, and consult with him!
He said that he went to Imam Baqir, peace be upon him, and informed him of the matter. So the Imam, peace be upon him, said: Do it! May the blessings of Allah be upon you two spouses!
✅ According to the above and other narrations, it is permissible for eligible women to propose a temporary marriage to suitable men, and there is no prohibition against it in the narrations. On the contrary, the Imam bestowed blessings upon such a couple who, by opposing Zufar who had forbidden temporary marriage, took action to perform one!
