Is this practice correct?
✅ Answer: Pay attention to the following narrations:

And he said: Begin with salaam before speaking! So, do not respond to someone who starts speaking before offering salaam!

📚 Ma'ani al-Akhbar, p. 155
A man came to Amir al-Mu'minin (peace be upon him) and said: Inform me about tradition, innovation, the community, and the sect!
He said: Tradition is what the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him and his family) established and laid down as a practice, and innovation is what was introduced after him. The community consists of the people of truth, even if they are few, and the sect consists of the people of falsehood, even if they are many!
✅ According to the above narrations and many other hadiths, the recommended and traditional greeting in Islam is to say salaam to one another upon meeting.
The word 'Durood,' although listed as one of the Persian meanings of salaam, is neither recommended by the Sharia nor encompasses all the meanings of salaam, which is an Arabic word. Generally, non-Arabic languages cannot fully convey the complete meaning of Arabic words.
Therefore, to follow the tradition and avoid innovation, it is necessary to use the very word that the Infallibles (peace be upon them) recommended for greeting and to refrain from replacing it with other words, God willing.
اللَّهُمَّ صَلِّ عَلَی مُحَمَّدٍ وَ آلِ مُحَمَّدٍ وَ عَجِّلْ لِوَلِیِّکَ الْفَرَجَ وَ الْعَافِیَةَ وَ النَّصْر
