Question 2017: Given the multiplied reward of prayers in the Kufa Mosque, Medina Mosque, and Masjid al-Haram, can we perform fewer missed (qada) prayers in these mosques and count them as more?
✅ Answer: Pay attention to the following narrations:

Muhammad ibn Rayyan says: I wrote to Imam Abu Ja’far, peace be upon him: A person performs some of their fifty daily prayers (either the daily supererogatory prayers or both obligatory and supererogatory prayers) as qada in Masjid al-Haram, the Prophet’s Mosque, or the Kufa Mosque. Will one rak’ah of it be counted for them according to what has been narrated from your forefathers about the multiplication of prayers in these mosques, such that if they have ten thousand rak’ahs of qada prayers, they could perform a hundred rak’ahs or fewer or more? And what would their state be? The Imam wrote: It will be counted for them as multiplied and manifold, but they should not reduce the number of prayers on account of this! (Despite this), they are closer to (and more worthy of) increasing their prayers than reducing them!

Imam Sadiq, peace be upon him, said: Mecca is the sanctuary of Allah, the sanctuary of His Messenger, and the sanctuary of Amir al-Mu’minin, peace be upon them both! A prayer in it is equivalent to one hundred thousand prayers, and one dirham (of charity) in it is equivalent to one hundred thousand dirhams!
And Medina is the sanctuary of Allah, the sanctuary of His Messenger, and the sanctuary of Amir al-Mu’minin, peace be upon them both! A prayer in it is equivalent to ten thousand prayers, and one dirham (of charity) in it is equivalent to ten thousand dirhams! And Kufa is the sanctuary of Allah, the sanctuary of His Messenger, and the sanctuary of Amir al-Mu’minin, peace be upon them both! A prayer in it is equivalent to one thousand prayers, and one dirham (of charity) in it is equivalent to one thousand dirhams!
✅ Based on the above narrations and others, although the reward for prayers in Masjid al-Haram, the Prophet’s Mosque, and the Kufa Mosque is multiplied and counted as manifold, this does not mean that if a person wishes to perform their missed supererogatory or obligatory prayers in these mosques, they should reduce their number. Rather, performing these prayers in these mosques only causes them to be recorded as multiplied, and this should encourage performing more prayers in these mosques, not fewer!
✅ Unfortunately, some inattentive individuals, based on narration 1⃣, issue fatwas suggesting that people reduce the number of their qada prayers in the aforementioned mosques according to the degree of multiplied reward! For example, they claim that every two rak’ahs of prayer in the Kufa Mosque should be counted as 2,000 rak’ahs!!! In this way, they pave the way for their followers to settle years of missed prayers with just a few rak’ahs in these mosques!
This is a misunderstanding of this narration and a failure to consider other narrations!
Would these individuals, based on narration 2⃣ and others, also issue a fatwa allowing people to settle millions in zakat debts by giving 1,000 toman in charity to the poor in these mosques??!!
✅ We must beware of those who, through misinterpretation, lead Shia astray!
✅ According to the teachings of the Ahl al-Bayt, peace be upon them all, Shia are obligated to base their actions on their luminous hadiths. However, some malicious individuals who criticize this noble approach seize upon rare misinterpretations by certain poorly educated people as an excuse to cast doubt on the very principle of practicing religion based on hadiths! But their reasoning is nothing more than a fallacy!
