1⃣عَنِ الْمُفَضَّلِ قَالَ: سَأَلْتُ أَبَا عَبْدِ اللَّهِ علیه السلام عَنِ الْعِشْقِ قَالَ قُلُوبٌ خَلَتْ عَنْ ذِکْرِ اللَّهِ فَأَذَاقَهَا اللَّهُ حُبَّ غَیْرِهِ

📚Amali Al-Saduq, p. 396

Mufaddal said: I asked Imam Sadiq (peace be upon him) about love; the Imam said: Hearts that are devoid of the remembrance of Allah are made to taste the love of others by Allah, the Exalted!

2⃣عَنْ سَعِیدٍ الْأَعْرَجِ عَنْ أَبِی عَبْدِ اللَّهِ علیه السلام قَالَ: إِنَّ مِنْ أَوْثَقِ عُرَی الْإِیمَانِ أَنْ تُحِبَّ فِی اللَّهِ وَ تُبْغِضَ فِی اللَّهِ وَ تُعْطِیَ فِی اللَّهِ وَ تَمْنَعَ فِی اللَّهِ عَزَّوَجَلَ

Imam Sadiq (peace be upon him) said: Indeed, one of the strongest bonds of faith is to love for the sake of Allah, to hate for the sake of Allah, to give for the sake of Allah, and to withhold for the sake of Allah!

3⃣عَنِ الْفُضَیْلِ عَنْ أَبِی عَبْدِ اللَّهِ علیه السلام قَالَ: مِنْ حُبِّ الرَّجُلِ دِینَهُ حُبُّهُ إِخْوَانَهُ

Imam Sadiq (peace be upon him) said: One of the signs of a man's love for his religion is his love for his brothers!

4⃣عَنْ أَبِی عُبَیْدَةَ الْحَذَّاءِ عَنْ أَبِی عَبْدِ اللَّهِ علیه السلام قَالَ: مَنْ أَحَبَّ فِی اللَّهِ وَ أَبْغَضَ فِی اللَّهِ وَ أَعْطَی فِی اللَّهِ فَهُوَ مِمَّنْ کَمَلَ إِیمَانُهُ.

Imam Sadiq (peace be upon him) said: Whoever loves for the sake of Allah, hates for the sake of Allah, gives for the sake of Allah, and withholds for the sake of Allah is among those whose faith is complete!

Imam Baqir (peace be upon him) said: Amir al-Mu'minin (peace be upon him) said: Consult those who fear Allah regarding your matters and love your brothers according to their level of piety!

6⃣عَنْ إِسْمَاعِیلَ بْنِ عَلِیٍّ الدِّعْبِلِیِّ عَنْ أَبِیهِ عَنْ عَلِیِّ بْنِ مُوسَی الرِّضَا عَنْ آبَائِهِ عَنْ أَمِیرِ الْمُؤْمِنِینَ أَنَّهُ قَالَ: أَحْبِبْ حَبِیبَکَ هَوْناً مَا فَعَسَی أَنْ یَکُونَ بَغِیضَکَ یَوْماً مَا وَ أَبْغِضْ بَغِیضَکَ هَوْناً مَا فَعَسَی أَنْ یَکُونَ حَبِیبَکَ یَوْماً مَا.

Amir al-Mu'minin (peace be upon him) said: Love your friend moderately and without excess, for they may one day become your enemy! And hate your enemy moderately and without excess, for they may one day become your friend!

7⃣قَالَ امیرالمؤمنین : زُهدُكَ فِي رَاغِبٍ فِيكَ نُقصَانُ حَظّ وَ رَغبَتُكَ فِي زَاهِدٍ فِيكَ ذُلّ نَفسٍ

📚Nahj al-Balagha, Wisdom 451

Amir al-Mu'minin (peace be upon him) said: Your disinterest in someone who desires you is a loss of opportunity, and your desire for someone who is disinterested in you is a humiliation of the self!

✅ Based on the above narrations and others, one of the strongest bonds of faith and signs of love for the religion is for a believer to love their religious brother and to carry affection for them in their heart.

However, this matter has boundaries and conditions that must be observed.

One of these boundaries is that love and affection for one's brothers should not reach the level of excess or infatuation.

Loving believers should be for the sake of Allah and in proportion to their piety.

Additionally, love should be such that if their affection towards the individual changes one day, it does not cause harm. While efforts should be made to maintain the bond of friendship with worthy individuals as much as necessary, if, despite our efforts, they lose interest in us, we should not humiliate ourselves by having undue and excessive attachment to them.

✅ Therefore, the questioner must bring their affection back within the boundaries prescribed by Shariah and avoid excess to escape from depression and sorrow, God willing.
