✅Answer: Please pay attention to the following narrations:
📚Kafi, Vol. 7, p. 449
Translation: Muhammad ibn Muslim said: I said to Imam Baqir (peace be upon him): What is the meaning of Allah's words in the Quran when He says: 'By the night when it covers' and 'By the star when it descends' and similar to them? The Imam said: Indeed, it is for Allah, the Exalted and Glorified, to swear by any of His creations He wishes, but His creation has no right to swear by anything but Him.
📚Kafi, Vol. 7, p. 461
Translation: Amir al-Mu'minin Ali (peace be upon him) said: A person who swears and says 'No, by the Lord of the Quran' and does not fulfill his oath, has one single expiation (kaffarah) to pay.
📚Faqih, Vol. 4, p. 3
Translation: In the hadith of prohibitions, the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him and his family) prohibited a person from swearing by other than Allah and said: A person who swears by other than Allah has no status for himself in anything (he has no status with Allah or is not in the mercy of Allah or...) and he prohibited a person from swearing by a surah from the Book of Allah, the Exalted and Glorified, and said: Whoever swears by a surah from the Book of Allah, for every verse of that surah, he has one expiation for an oath to pay, so let whoever wants to act (according to this oath) and be truthful and let whoever wants to break it and lie, and he prohibited a person from saying to another: 'No, by your life' or 'by the life of so-and-so'.
📚Tafsir Ayyashi, Vol. 1, p. 74
Translation: Muhammad ibn Muslim said: I heard Imam Baqir (peace be upon him) say regarding the (verse) 'and do not follow the footsteps of Satan': Every oath that is by other than Allah is from the footsteps of Satan.
✅From the above narrations and other narrations on this topic, several points can be concluded:
1 Swearing by other than Allah and His names is forbidden, and such oaths are not valid. Therefore, swearing by the Quran is forbidden and is not valid, and also placing a hand on the Quran and swearing is an un-Islamic act and has no basis, and such an oath is not valid and is considered one of the footsteps of Satan.
2 Swearing by the surahs of the Quran, in addition to the general prohibitions of swearing by other than Allah, is specifically forbidden in the third hadith, and a heavy expiation is specified for it, which is one expiation for an oath for every verse of that surah. Of course, it is not clear whether this expiation is necessary only if the oath is broken and it is a lie, or if it is included in such an expiation in any case because the oath was by other than Allah. Therefore, we must strictly avoid such an oath as it is a severe matter.
3 If someone swears by 'the Lord of the Quran', according to the second hadith, such an oath is valid because in reality, the oath is sworn by Allah since the Lord of the book is Allah.
✅By learning the commands and orders of the Ahl al-Bayt (peace be upon them), we can protect ourselves from the divine prohibitions that our deficient intellects are unable to understand and distinguish, so that we may reach the status of 'Iman' (faith) according to the definition of Imam Sadiq (peace be upon him), for he said:
📚Kafi, Vol. 2, p. 78
Translation: Imam Sadiq (peace be upon him) said: We do not consider a person a believer until he is a follower and adherent of all of our commands.
✅In the hope of getting closer to this status, let us always be engaged in learning and teaching and acting upon the luminous words of the Ahl al-Bayt (peace be upon them). Insha'Allah
