Question 1909: What is the ruling on prostrating on prayer tablets that have the names of the Ahl al-Bayt (peace be upon them) or phrases like 'Soil of Karbala' inscribed on them?
✅ Answer: Consider the following narration:
📚 Al-Faqih, Vol. 1, p. 317
Imam Sadiq (peace be upon him) said: 'Everything is permissible until a prohibition regarding it is revealed!'
📚 Wasa'il al-Shi'a, Vol. 27, p. 102
Amir al-Mu'minin (peace be upon him) said: 'Say what has been conveyed to you and submit to what has been narrated for you. Do not impose upon yourselves what has not been made obligatory for you, for the consequences of doing so will be upon you. Avoid doubtful matters, for they have been set to incite mischief!'
✅ Based on the principles found in the narrations of the Ahl al-Bayt (peace be upon them), as long as no specific or general prohibition exists concerning an action, and it is not considered an innovation or a doubtful matter in jurisprudential terms, that action is permissible, and we should not impose obligations that have not been prescribed.
Inscribing sacred names of Allah, the blessed names of the Ahl al-Bayt (peace be upon them), or phrases like 'Soil of Karbala' on prayer tablets has not been specifically recommended or mentioned by the Ahl al-Bayt, but using such tablets for prayer has no specific or general prohibition and is permissible.
✅ Let us pray more and better for the hastening of relief:
