Question 1829: What is the ruling on earning income from games like Nat Coin, Hamster, etc.?

✅ Recently, games like Hamster Combat, Nat Coin, and others have been created on platforms like Telegram, and the managers of these games have promised that after earning points in the form of coins, these coins will be priced and can be bought and sold! For example, one of these games has completed its processes and has ultimately turned into a digital currency, and now some people are benefiting from it!

It should be noted that the origin of these games, their purpose, the profit for their managers, the consequences, and their true nature are all unclear, but unfortunately, the general public, and sometimes even the educated, have become preoccupied with them. They trust these virtual promises and follow their exact instructions to earn coins and points to later convert them into digital currency and make money from it!

However, usually no one knows what benefit the managers of these games gain from giving these financial promises in exchange for simply tapping the screen of a phone!

✅ But a Shia, who is a follower and aware of the teachings of the Ahlul Bayt (peace be upon them), does not fall for these promises and does not immerse themselves in haram and questionable activities out of greed for wealth. Because:

1⃣ Imam Zayn al-Abidin (peace be upon him) says:

The rightful ownership of your wealth is that you do not acquire it except through its lawful means!

📚 *Risala al-Huqooq* by Imam Zayn al-Abidin (peace be upon him)

2⃣ Imam Reza (peace be upon him) said in a narration:

📚 *Al-Kafi*, vol. 1, p. 547

Imam Reza (peace be upon him) said: 'No wealth is lawful except from the means that Allah has made lawful!'

📚 *Al-Amali* by Al-Tusi, vol. 2, p. 147

The Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) said in a will to Abu Dharr: 'O Abu Dharr! Whoever does not care where they acquire their wealth from, Allah does not care from where He will throw them into the fire!'

📚 *Basa'ir al-Darajat*, vol. 2, p. 142

Qabus says: A group from Khurasan came to Imam Sadiq (peace be upon him). Imam began speaking without a question being asked: 'Whoever gathers wealth through dishonest means, Allah will destroy it in the end!' They said to him: 'May Allah sacrifice us for you! We do not understand this!' Imam (in Persian) said: 'Any wealth that comes from the wind will be lost with a breath!'

✅ Based on the above narrations and others, earning wealth must only come through lawful means, and earning wealth through unlawful or doubtful means is not permissible.

A person who earns money through games like Hamster or similar ones does not know where the wealth is coming from or who is providing it. They also do not understand what benefit the managers of these games gain from the actions they perform to earn virtual coins and points, and it is possible that by tapping on coins in these Telegram programs, they are indirectly promoting or strengthening corruption or sin, along with other doubts. This clearly suggests that, based on the guidance of the Ahlul Bayt (peace be upon them) regarding wealth acquisition, we should avoid such activities.

✅ Of course, it is possible that these are just deceptions and games, and no real money is involved. In that case, we would still suffer a heavy loss due to wrong intentions, wasting time and opportunities, and engaging in idle and pointless activities.

✅ Shia followers and lovers of the Ahlul Bayt (peace be upon them) should benefit from the words of the Imams to avoid being deceived:

📚 *Al-Kafi*, vol. 5, p. 298

Muhammad bin Haroon says: I heard Imam Abu al-Hasan (peace be upon him) say: 'When oppression and injustice exceed what is rightful, it is not permissible for anyone to have a good opinion of someone, until they recognize the good from them!'

✅ Therefore, today, especially in the virtual space, we should not trust anyone, and we should not become the playthings of the corrupt in the virtual and real world.
