Question 280: How high should the hands be raised for the 'Takbirat al-Ihram'?

Answer
✅Answer: Please pay attention to the following narrations:
📚Tahdhib, Vol. 2, p. 65
Translation: Safwan said: I saw Imam Sadiq (peace be upon him) when he would say the 'takbir' in prayer, he would raise his hands so that they were close to his ears.
📚Tahdhib, Vol. 2, p. 65
Translation: 'Abdullah ibn Sinan said: I saw Imam Sadiq (peace be upon him) praying, and at the time of 'istiftah' (i.e., at the time of saying the 'Takbirat al-Ihram'), he would raise his hands in front of his face.
📚Tahdhib, Vol. 2, p. 66
Translation: Imam Sadiq (peace be upon him) said regarding the verse 'So pray to your Lord and sacrifice': 'That is raising the hands up to in front of the face.'
📚Tahdhib, Vol. 2, p. 65
Translation: Imam Sadiq (peace be upon him) said in a hadith: 'When you begin the prayer and say the 'takbir', do not go past your ears, and for supplication in an obligatory prayer, do not raise your hands higher than your head.'
📚Tahdhib, Vol. 2, p. 66
Translation: Mansur ibn Hazim said: I saw Imam Sadiq (peace be upon him) begin the prayer, so he raised his two hands in front of his face and turned the palms of his hands towards the 'qiblah'.
📚Kafi, Vol. 3, p. 309
Translation: Imam Sadiq or Imam Baqir (peace be upon them) said: 'In beginning the prayer, you raise your hands up to in front of your face and you do not raise your hands up completely.'
✅It is clear from the above narrations that when saying the 'takbir' in prayer, the hands are raised up to in front of the face and close to the ears, and the palms of the hands are turned towards the 'qiblah', but they should not pass or go beyond the ears.
✅Of course, in several narrations, raising the hands to a little below the face and in front of the 'nahr' (throat pit) has also been permitted, and in the text above, the well-known hadiths have been presented.
✅Based on hadith 1 and several other hadiths, it is clear that this way of raising the hands is not only for the 'Takbirat al-Ihram' and in all the 'takbirs' of the prayer, the hands are raised in the same way, up to in front of the face and close to the ears, in such a way that the palms of the hands are towards the 'qiblah'.
✅Also, pay attention to the following luminous narration:
📚Tahdhib
Translation: Imam Sadiq (peace be upon him) said: 'Raising your hands in prayer is the adornment of the prayer.'
✅If Allah wills, we will adorn our prayers by raising our hands in accordance with the tradition.
✅Of course, all the readers of this text are doers of these hadiths, but it is the duty of all of us to be aware of the jurisprudential and narrational foundations of all the actions we perform and in fact to conform our actions to the sayings of the Ahl al-Bayt (peace be upon them) and to knowledge, and not to perform an action for years without being aware of its narrations and to perform it merely out of habit and observing others performing it, but rather to seek to learn the foundations of all our actions. If Allah wills.
