Question 1778: What is the ruling for someone who becomes junub (in a state of major ritual impurity) or experiences a wet dream during the nights of Ramadan and, out of shyness or embarrassment from family and friends, delays the ghusl (ritual purification) until the time of Fajr (dawn)?
✅ Answer: Please refer to the following narrations:
📚 Al-Kafi, Volume 2, Page 106
The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him and his family) said: There are two types of modesty: the modesty of intellect and the modesty of ignorance!
The modesty of intellect is knowledge, and the modesty of ignorance is foolishness!
📚 Al-Kafi, Volume 2, Page 231
Imam Sajjad (peace be upon him) said: A believer remains silent to stay safe and speaks to gain benefit and reward... and does not perform any good deed out of ostentation or abandon it due to shyness or embarrassment!

Imam Sadiq (peace be upon him) said regarding a person who becomes junub during the night of Ramadan and deliberately delays the ghusl until dawn: they must free a slave, or fast for two consecutive months, or feed 60 needy people!
And he added: It is not befitting to see them repeat such an action ever again!

Imam Askari (peace be upon him) said: If a person becomes junub during the night of Ramadan and (intentionally) does not perform ghusl until dawn, they are obligated to fast for two consecutive months along with making up that specific day of fasting, and even then, they will not attain the virtue of that day!
✅ Based on the above and other narrations, anyone who becomes junub or experiences a wet dream during the nights of Ramadan must perform ghusl before Fajr. If they deliberately abandon the ghusl until Fajr, in addition to committing a sin, they are obligated to make up the fast (qadha) and provide expiation (kaffara). They must either fast for two consecutive months or feed 60 needy individuals, providing each with one mudd of food.
✅ Based on narrations 1⃣ and 2⃣, neglecting religious duties out of shyness or embarrassment is incorrect. Thus, anyone who delays ghusl during Ramadan until Fajr due to embarrassment has no valid excuse under Islamic law. They deliberately entered the day of Ramadan in a state of impurity and are subject to the rulings mentioned in narrations 3⃣ and 4⃣. In addition to the sin they committed, they must make up the fast and provide expiation, as such shyness and embarrassment stem from ignorance and foolishness, not knowledge and intellect!
