✅ Answer: Please consider the following narrations:

1⃣عَنْ سَعِیدٍ الْأَعْرَجِ أَنَّهُ سَأَلَ أَبَا عَبْدِاللَّهِ عَنِ الْمُسْرِعِ وَ الْمُبْطِئِ فِی الطَّوَافِ فَقَالَ کُلٌّ وَاسِعٌ مَا لَمْ یُؤْذِ أَحَداً.

📚 Al-Faqih, Vol. 2, p. 411

Saeed A'raj asked Imam Sadiq (peace be upon him) about the speed of walking and the slowness in Tawaf. The Imam replied: 'Both are allowed as long as no one is disturbed!'

2⃣عَنْ ثَعْلَبَةَ عَنْ زُرَارَةَ أَوْ مُحَمَّد بن مسلم قَالَ: سَأَلْتُ أَبَا جَعْفَرٍ عَنِ الطَّوَافِ أَ یَرْمُلُ فِیهِ الرَّجُلُ فَقَالَ إِنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ لَمَّا أَنْ قَدِمَ مَکَّةَ وَ کَانَ بَیْنَهُ وَ بَیْنَ الْمُشْرِکِینَ الْکِتَابُ الَّذِی قَدْ عَلِمْتُمْ أَمَرَ النَّاسَ أَنْ یَتَجَلَّدُوا وَ قَالَ أَخْرِجُوا أَعْضَادَکُمْ وَ أَخْرَجَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ثُمَّ رَمَلَ بِالْبَیْتِ لِیُرِیَهُمْ أَنَّهُ لَمْ یُصِبْهُمْ جَهْدٌ فَمِنْ أَجْلِ ذَلِکَ یَرْمُلُ النَّاسُ وَ إِنِّی لَأَمْشِی مَشْیاً وَ قَدْ کَانَ عَلِیُّ بْنُ الْحُسَیْنِ یَمْشِی مَشْیاً.

Zurarah or Muhammad bin Muslim says: I asked Imam Sadiq (peace be upon him) about Tawaf, whether one should walk briskly and quickly. The Imam replied: 'When the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) entered Makkah and the written document between him and the polytheists was made, he ordered the people to appear energetic and strong, exposing their arms, and they did so. Then, they performed Tawaf around the Ka'bah quickly to show the polytheists that they were not tired or weary. For this reason, the general people walk briskly during Tawaf. However, I (without rushing) walk slowly, and Imam Zayn al-Abidin (peace be upon him) also walked slowly.'

3⃣عَنْ عِدَّةٍ مِنْ أَصْحَابِنَا عَنْ أَحْمَدَ بْنِ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ عِیسَی عَنِ الْبَرْقِیِّ عَنْ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ سَیَابَةَ قَالَ: سَأَلْتُ أَبَا عَبْدِ اللَّهِ عَنِ الطَّوَافِ فَقُلْتُ أُسْرِعُ وَ أُکْثِرُ أَوْ أُبْطِئُ قَالَ مَشْیٌ بَیْنَ مَشْیَیْنِ.

Abdul Rahman bin Sayabah says: I asked Imam Sadiq (peace be upon him) about Tawaf and whether I should walk quickly or slowly. The Imam replied: 'Walk at a moderate pace, between fast and slow!'

✅ Based on the above narrations and others, both walking quickly and slowly during Tawaf are permissible. However, what is recommended is to walk at a moderate pace—not too fast and not too slow.

✅ According to narration 1⃣, the choice of walking quickly or slowly during Tawaf is permissible as long as it does not disturb others. If our choice causes harm or inconvenience to someone, we should adjust it to avoid disturbing others. Sometimes, walking quickly can inconvenience people, and sometimes walking too slowly during Tawaf can also cause discomfort to others.
