1⃣ Musa bin al-Qasim said: I said to Imam Al-Jawad (peace be upon him), 'I wanted to perform Tawaf on your behalf and your father's behalf, but I was told that Tawaf cannot be performed on behalf of the successors.' Imam replied, 'Yes! Perform as much Tawaf as you can, for it is permissible.'

Three years later, I told Imam, 'I sought your permission to perform Tawaf on your behalf and your father's behalf, and you granted me permission. I performed Tawaf as Allah willed. Then, something crossed my mind, and I acted upon it.' Imam asked, 'What is that?' I replied, 'I performed Tawaf one day on behalf of the Messenger of Allah.' Imam said three times, 'May Allah bless the Messenger of Allah.' Then, on the second day, I performed Tawaf on behalf of Amir al-Mu’minin (peace be upon him), on the third day on behalf of Imam Hasan (peace be upon him), on the fourth day on behalf of Imam Husayn (peace be upon him), on the fifth day on behalf of Imam Ali ibn Husayn (peace be upon him), on the sixth day on behalf of Imam Abu Ja'far Muhammad ibn Ali (peace be upon him), on the seventh day on behalf of Imam Ja'far ibn Muhammad (peace be upon him), on the eighth day on behalf of your father Musa ibn Ja'far (peace be upon him), on the ninth day on behalf of your father Ali (peace be upon him), and on the tenth day on your behalf, O my master! These are the ones through whom I perform my obedience to Allah.' Imam then said, 'In that case, by Allah, you are performing your devotion to Allah with a faith that He will accept from no one else.'

I said, 'Sometimes I also perform Tawaf on behalf of your mother Fatimah (peace be upon her), and sometimes I do not perform it.'

Imam replied, 'Do this frequently, for it is the best action you can perform, InshaAllah.'

2⃣ Dawood al-Raqi said: I entered upon Imam Al-Sadiq (peace be upon him) while I had a debt from someone, and I feared it would be lost. I complained about this to Imam. Imam said, 'When you arrive in Mecca, perform Tawaf on behalf of Abdul Muttalib and pray two rak’ahs on his behalf. Then perform Tawaf on behalf of Abu Talib and pray two rak’ahs for him. Perform Tawaf on behalf of Abdullah (the father of the Messenger of Allah) and pray two rak’ahs for him. Perform Tawaf on behalf of Amina (the mother of the Messenger of Allah) and pray two rak’ahs for her. Perform Tawaf on behalf of Fatimah bint Asad and pray two rak’ahs for her. Then pray that Allah returns your property to you.'

Dawood said: I did this, and when I left the Safa gate, I suddenly saw my debtor standing there, saying, 'O Dawood, you have detained me! Come, take your property.'

3⃣ Yahya asked Imam Al-Sadiq (peace be upon him) whether it was appropriate for a person to perform Tawaf on behalf of their close ones. Imam said: 'Once the Hajj rituals are complete, one may do whatever they wish.'

✅ However, in the narration from Imam Al-Sadiq (peace be upon him) in 📚 Al-Kafi, Vol. 4, p. 422, there is no permission to perform Tawaf on behalf of someone who is present in Mecca.
