Answer
✅ Answer: Pay attention to the following narrations:
📚 Al-Kafi, vol. 5, p. 448
Abu Basir said: I asked Imam Baqir (peace be upon him) about mut‘a. The Imam replied: It has been revealed in the Qur’an (Surah al-Nisa, verse 24): ‘And for whatever you have enjoyed [through mut‘a] from them, give them their dowry as an obligation. And there is no blame upon you for what you mutually agree upon after the obligation.’
📚 Al-Kafi, vol. 5, p. 455
Imam Sadiq (peace be upon him) said: Mut‘a is not valid except with two conditions: a specified and stated term, and a specified and stated payment (dowry).
📚 Tahdhib, vol. 7, p. 262
Isma‘il said: I asked Imam Sadiq (peace be upon him) about mut‘a: [He said:] A specified dowry for a specified term!
📚 Al-Kafi, vol. 5, p. 364
Husayn ibn Zayd said: I heard Imam Sadiq (peace be upon him) say: The private parts become lawful in three ways: permanent marriage with inheritance, marriage without inheritance (mut‘a), and through possession (slave women).

Hasan ibn Zayd said: I was with Imam Sadiq (peace be upon him) when Abdul-Malik ibn Jurayj al-Makki entered. The Imam asked him: What do you have regarding mut‘a? He said: Your father Muhammad ibn Ali (peace be upon him) narrated to me from Jabir ibn Abdullah al-Ansari that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him and his family) gave a sermon and said: O people! Surely Allah has made lawful private parts for you in three ways: through marriage with inheritance (permanent marriage), through marriage without inheritance (mut‘a), and through slave women.
✅ Based on the above narrations and others, mut‘a or tazwij al-mut‘a is one of the three lawful forms of marital relations. It is also referred to as temporary marriage, whereby a woman who meets the necessary conditions is married for a specified dowry and duration, with its own rulings that Shi‘a scholars have collected and recorded in hadith books in an organized manner.
✅ However, recently a person with a record of reckless and ignorant fatwas has claimed that mut‘a is different from tazwij al-mut‘a (temporary marriage), and has said: ‘Umar was not opposed to temporary marriage, rather he was opposed to mut‘a. Mut‘a is not temporary marriage! Rather, temporary marriage is a form of permanent marriage conditioned on divorce, no inheritance, etc. For this reason, “tazwij al-mut‘a” (which is the real temporary marriage, not mut‘a) counts among the four shares of polygamy!’
✅ But from the Shi‘a narrations it is completely clear that neither the Umaris (who opposed mut‘a, i.e., tazwij al-mut‘a / temporary marriage), nor the Shi‘a (who consider it lawful in the Qur’an and Sunnah), have ever considered there to be a difference between mut‘a and tazwij al-mut‘a. In the narrations above and elsewhere, the companions would ask Ahl al-Bayt (peace be upon them) about ‘mut‘a’, and the Imams would explain the rulings of tazwij al-mut‘a!
✅ Since this matter is entirely clear and agreed upon by all Shi‘a, there is no need to elaborate further. The opposing claim is too ignorant to even merit lengthy refutation.
✅ In fact, in Islamic jurisprudence, there is no such thing as a ‘permanent marriage conditioned on divorce and no inheritance.’ This is an invention of S.J.M!
✅ It is recommended that Shi‘a avoid following the fabrications of this person so as not to fall into his ignorant and misleading doubts.
