✅ Answer: Please pay attention to the following narrations:

📚 Al-Kafi, Vol. 3, p. 428

Imam Baqir (peace be upon him) said: 'If you are in doubt about the zenith (i.e., the time for the noon prayer beginning), then perform two rak'ahs of prayer (nafilah), and when you are certain (of the time beginning), start with the obligatory prayer!'

📚 Al-Tahdhib, Vol. 2, p. 167

Adim said: 'I heard Imam Sadiq (peace be upon him) say: 'A person should not perform the nafilah when the time for the obligatory prayer begins,' and he said: 'When the time for the obligatory prayer begins, start with the obligatory prayer!'

📚 Al-Tahdhib, Vol. 2, p. 167

Nujayyah said: 'I said to Imam Baqir (peace be upon him): 'The prayer reaches me and its time begins. Should I start with the nafilah?' The Imam said: 'No! Rather, start with the obligatory prayer and make up the nafilah!'

✅ According to the above narrations and others, it is permissible to perform supererogatory prayers as long as certainty about the time for the prayer has not been achieved. For example, if a person is in doubt about the time for the morning prayer beginning, he can perform his night prayer until he is certain that the time has begun.

Permission has also been given to perform these nafilah prayers for a certain period after the time for the morning, noon, and afternoon prayers has begun, which, while differing between congregational and individual prayer, has separate hadiths that must be mentioned in a separate discussion.

However, before being certain that the time for prayer has begun and when we are in doubt about the time for prayer, we have no prohibition from performing the nafilah prayers for that prayer or others.

Surah Yasin (audio)

Surah Al-Mulk (audio)

One of the virtues of Surah Al-Mulk:

📚 Al-Bihar, Vol. 87, p. 108, hadith 5

Imam Baqir (peace be upon him) said: 'Whoever recites Surah Al-Mulk at night has truly performed much good and pure deeds and is not among the heedless, and I recite it after the evening prayer in one rak'ah of a sitting prayer!'
