A man who completely invalidated his Sa'y during Umrah al-Mufradah and then invalidated his Umrah and returned to his country. What is his duty?

1 عَنْ مُعَاوِیَةَ بْنِ عَمَّارٍ قَالَ: سَأَلْتُ أَبَا عَبْدِ اللَّهِ عَنْ یَوْمِ الْحَجِّ الْأَکْبَر فَقَالَ هُوَ یَوْمُ النَّحْرِ وَ الْأَصْغَرُ هُوَ الْعُمْرَةُ.

Muawiyah ibn Ammar said: I asked Imam Sadiq (peace be upon him) about the Greater Hajj; the Imam said: It is the day of Eid al-Adha, and the Lesser Hajj is the Umrah!

2 عَنْ عَلِیٍّ فِی حَدِیثٍ قَالَ: وَ أَمَّا حُدُودُ الْحَجِّ فَأَرْبَعَةٌ وَ هِیَ الْإِحْرَامُ وَ الطَّوَافُ بِالْبَیْتِ وَ السَّعْیُ بَیْنَ الصَّفَا وَ الْمَرْوَةِ- وَ الْوُقُوفُ فِی الْمَوْقِفَیْنِ وَ مَا یَتْبَعُهَا وَ یَتَّصِلُ بِهَا فَمَنْ تَرَکَ هَذِهِ الْحُدُودَ وَجَبَ عَلَیْهِ الْکَفَّارَةُ وَ الْإِعَادَةُ.

Imam Ali (peace be upon him) said: As for the limits of Hajj, there are four things: Ihram, Tawaf of the House of Allah, Sa'y between Safa and Marwa, and standing at the two stations (Arafat and Mash'ar) and what is connected and attached to it. So whoever abandons these limits, atonement and repetition are on him!

3 عَنْ مُعَاوِیَةَ بْنِ عَمَّارٍ عَنْ أَبِی عَبْدِ اللَّهِ فِی حَدِیثٍ أَنَّهُ قَالَ: فِی رَجُلٍ تَرَکَ السَّعْیَ مُتَعَمِّداً قَالَ لَا حَجَّ لَهُ.

Imam Sadiq (peace be upon him) said in a hadith: Whoever intentionally abandons the Sa'y between Safa and Marwa, there is no Hajj for him!

4 عَنِ الْعَلَاءِ بْنِ رَزِینٍ قَالَ: سَأَلْتُهُ عَنْ رَجُلٍ طَافَ بِالْبَیْتِ فَأَعْیَا أَ یُؤَخِّرُ الطَّوَافَ بَیْنَ الصَّفَا وَ الْمَرْوَةِ إِلَی غَدٍ قَالَ لَا.

Ala' said: I asked the Imam (peace be upon him) about a person who performs the Tawaf of the House and gets tired. Can he postpone the Sa'y between Safa and Marwa until tomorrow? He said: No!

5 عن إِسحاق بن عَمَّارٍ عن أَبِي عَبْداللَّه قَالَ: لَوْ لَا مَا مَنَّ اللَّهُ بِهِ عَلَى النَّاسِ مِنْ طَوَافِ الْوَدَاعِ لَرَجَعُوا إِلَى مَنَازِلِهِمْ وَ لَا يَنْبَغِي لَهُمْ أَنْ يَمَسُّوا نِسَاءَهُمْ يَعْنِي لَا تَحِلُّ لَهُمُ النِّسَاءُ حَتَّى يَرْجِعَ فَيَطُوفَ بِالْبَيْتِ أُسْبُوعاً آخَرَ بَعْدَ مَا يَسْعَى بَيْنَ الصَّفَا وَ الْمَرْوَةِ و ذَلِكَ عَلَى الرِّجَالِ و النِّسَاءِ وَاجِبٌ

Imam Sadiq (peace be upon him) said: If Allah had not granted grace to people with the Farewell Tawaf, they would have returned to their homes while it was not permissible for them to touch their women, meaning women were not lawful for them until he returned and performed seven circuits of Tawaf of the House of Allah after the Sa'y between Safa and Marwa, and this (Tawaf al-Nisa) is obligatory for men and women!

6 عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ سِنَانٍ عَنْ أَبِی عَبْدِ اللَّه فِی الرَّجُلِ یَجِیءُ مُعْتَمِراً عُمْرَةً مَبْتُولَةً قَالَ یُجْزِئُهُ إِذَا طَافَ بِالْبَیْتِ وَ سَعَی بَیْنَ الصَّفَا وَ الْمَرْوَةِ- وَ حَلَقَ أَنْ یَطُوفَ طَوَافاً وَاحِداً بِالْبَیْتِ وَ مَنْ شَاءَ أَنْ یُقَصِّرَ قَصَّرَ.

📚 Al-Kafi, Vol. 4, p. 538

Imam Sadiq (peace be upon him) said about a person who comes to perform Umrah al-Mufradah: It is sufficient for him to perform Tawaf of the House of Allah and the Sa'y between Safa and Marwa and shave his head, and whoever wishes only to shorten his hair, he performs taqsir and performs another Tawaf (i.e., Tawaf al-Nisa) of the House of Allah.

✅ According to the above narrations and others, Umrah al-Mufradah is considered the Lesser Hajj, which shares some acts with Hajj and includes: Ihram, the obligatory Tawaf with its prayer behind the Station of Ibrahim, Sa'y of Safa and Marwa, taqsir, and Tawaf al-Nisa. According to the above narrations, abandoning its limits invalidates the Umrah, and his exit from the state of Ihram is not achieved, and even abandoning Tawaf al-Nisa alone makes women unlawful for him.

✅ Therefore, a person who has invalidated and abandoned the Sa'y of Safa and Marwa during Umrah al-Mufradah and returned to his city without continuing the rest of the acts, his Umrah is invalidated, and women are forbidden for him until he goes and repeats his Umrah, and if he is unable to go, he must appoint an agent to perform the Umrah on his behalf.
