Answer

✅Answer: Please pay attention to the following narration:

📚 Kafi, Vol. 6, p. 28

Ammar said: I asked Imam Sadiq, peace be upon him, about the aqiqah for a newborn, how is it? He said: When the newborn reaches 7 days of age, he is named with the name that Allah, the Mighty and Exalted, has named him, and then his head is shaved and gold or silver equal to its weight is given as charity, and a male sheep is sacrificed on his behalf. So if a male sheep is not found, what suffices for the sacrifice of Eid al-Adha is sufficient from it, otherwise, a male lamb from the largest male lambs of that year is sufficient!

📚 Faqih, Vol. 3, p. 485

Muhammad ibn Marid said: I asked Imam Sadiq, peace be upon him, about the aqiqah; he said: A sheep or a cow or a camel!

✅ What is specified in most narrations for the aqiqah is a 'kabsh,' meaning a male sheep (with horns or a ram), and in narration 1, it is stated that if a male sheep is not found, what suffices for Eid al-Adha is sufficient.

📚 Al-Kafi, Vol. 6, p. 29

Minhal said: I said to Imam Sadiq, peace be upon him: Our companions go to seek an aqiqah when it is the season for the Arabs to come, and they find a male aqiqah, but when it is not in its season, it is not found and it becomes difficult for them. So the Imam said: The aqiqah is a fleshy and fat sheep, and it is not like the sacrifice of Eid al-Adha, anything from it suffices!

📚 Al-Kafi, Vol. 6, p. 30

Imam Sadiq, peace be upon him, said: The aqiqah is not like the sacrifice of Mecca, the best of it is the fattest of them!

✅ Based on the above narrations, the sheep that is chosen for the aqiqah does not need the conditions of the sacrifice of Eid al-Adha and the sacrifice of Mecca, and although conditions for it have been stated in terms of priority and age, conditions such as the soundness of the ears and eyes and the like have not been placed on it, and therefore, a blind sheep is also not a problem for the aqiqah.
