1 عَنْ عَلِیِّ بْنِ إِبْرَاهِیمَ عَنْ أَبِیهِ عَنِ النَّوْفَلِیِّ عَنِ السَّکُونِیِّ عَنْ أَبِی عَبْدِ اللَّهِ قَالَ: قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ إِیَّاکُمْ أَنْ تَشَمُّوا الْخُبْزَ کَمَا یَشَمُّهُ السِّبَاعُ فَإِنَّ الْخُبْزَ مُبَارَکٌ أَرْسَلَ اللَّهُ لَهُ السَّمَاءَ مِدْرَاراً وَ لَهُ أَنْبَتَ اللَّهُ الْمَرْعَی وَ بِهِ صَلَّیْتُمْ وَ بِهِ صُمْتُمْ وَ حَجَجْتُمْ بَیْتَ رَبِّکُمْ.
📚 Al-Kafi, vol. 6, p. 303
Imam Sadiq, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, said: 'The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him and his family, said: 'Beware of smelling bread as predators smell it! For bread is blessed! Allah has sent down the rain in abundance for it and has grown the plants for it, and by its (strength) you pray, and by its (strength) you fast, and you perform the pilgrimage to the House of your Lord!'
✅ Predatory animals like dogs and others, when they intend to eat bread, first smell it to check it, and then they eat it. This act is forbidden for us humans in the above narration.
