✅Answer: Please pay attention to the following narration:

📚 Al-Kafi Vol. 6, p. 25

✅Translation: Umar ibn Yazid said: I said to Imam Sadiq (peace be upon him): 'By Allah, I do not know if my father performed the Aqiqah for me or not; (what should I do?)' So the Imam instructed me, and I, being an old man (older than forty), performed the Aqiqah sacrifice for myself. Umar ibn Yazid also said: 'I heard Imam Sadiq (peace be upon him) say: 'Every person is in pledge and security of his Aqiqah, and Aqiqah is more obligatory than the sacrifice on the day of Eid al-Adha.'

✅Based on the above narration, a person whose father did not perform the Aqiqah for him, or who does not know whether his father performed the Aqiqah for him or not, should perform the Aqiqah for himself at whatever age he may be.

✅Note: The Aqiqah has been given great importance in Shi'a narrations. It is necessary to pay special attention to it, and in general, it is necessary to give great importance to the recommendations of the Ahl al-Bayt (peace be upon them) in the narrations that are actionable. Pay attention to the following narration regarding the Imam's emphasis on acting upon their recommendations:

📚 Wasail al-Shi'ah Vol. 3, p. 326

✅Translation: Imam Sadiq (peace be upon him) said: 'Indeed, whoever puts a handful of rosewater on his face, he is safe from humiliation, disgrace, and poverty on that day, and whoever pours rosewater on his head, he is safe from the illness of Barasam (pleurisy or a kind of fever) for that year (for one year). So, do not abandon what we recommend to you.'
