Question 1226: Is prayer abandoned due to blood that continues for several days because of a fibroid operation?

Answer
✅ Answer: Please pay attention to the following narrations:
📚 Al-Kafi Vol. 3, p. 94
'Aban said: I said to Imam Sadiq (peace be upon him): We have a young woman who has a wound inside her vulva, and blood is flowing, and she does not know if it is from menstruation or from a wound!
The Imam said: Tell her to lie on her back and lift her two legs and insert her middle finger. If the blood comes out from the right side, it is from menstruation, and if it comes out from the left side, it is from a wound!
📚 Al-Kafi Vol. 3, p. 76
Imam Sadiq (peace be upon him) said: When a woman sees blood during her menstrual period, she abandons prayer, and if the bleeding stops after she has seen blood for one or two days, she performs ghusl and prays and waits... until he said: If ten days have passed since the day she saw blood and she did not see any blood, then the one or two days that she saw blood was not menstruation but was from an illness, or a wound in her uterus or from the uterus itself, so it is her responsibility to repeat the prayers that she abandoned during those two days because she was not a menstruating woman, so it is obligatory for her to make up what she abandoned of prayer during those one or two days!
📚 Al-Kafi Vol. 3, p. 94
Imam Baqir (peace be upon him) was asked about a man who deflowers his wife or concubine and she sees a lot of blood that does not stop for a day. What should she do with the prayer? The Imam said: She should keep some cotton inside herself. If the cotton comes out with the blood forming a ring on it, it is from the blood of defloration, so she performs ghusl (of janaba) and puts some cotton inside herself and prays. But if the cotton comes out soaked in blood, this is from menstruation, and she abandons the prayer during her menstrual period!
✅ Based on the above narrations and others, blood that is due to an injury or wound or due to defloration does not cause the abandonment of prayer, and the woman is obligated to pray. It is only in the case of menstrual blood or postpartum bleeding that she is obligated to abandon prayer.
✅ Therefore, a woman who experiences bleeding solely due to a fibroid operation should not abandon prayer, because her blood is due to the wounds that have been created inside her as a result of the fibroid operation, and if she has abandoned prayer, she is obligated to make them up.
✅ In a situation where menstrual blood is confused with the blood of a wound or menstrual blood with the blood of defloration, one should use the solutions that have come in the above narrations and others to distinguish between them.
