The Imam said to me: Tell him: The 'istisqa' and the rain prayer is not like this! Tell him: He should go out and deliver a sermon to the people and order them to fast today and tomorrow, and on the third day, he should go out with them (for the rain prayer) while they are fasting!
Hammad said: I went out and informed him of the words of Abu Abdullah, peace be upon him, and he came and delivered a sermon to the people and ordered them to fast as the Imam had said. And when the third day came, he sent to the Imam asking for his opinion on going out (for the rain prayer)?
The narrator said: It is mentioned in another narration that the Imam ordered him to go out on Monday and seek rain!

📚 Al-Kafi, vol. 3, p. 462
Murrah, the freed slave of Muhammad ibn Khalid, said: The people of Medina called out to Muhammad ibn Khalid for the rain prayer. So he said to me: Go to Abu Abdullah, peace be upon him, and ask him that they have called out to me for the rain prayer, what is your opinion? I went to the Imam and told him. So he said to me: Tell him to go out. I said: May I be sacrificed for you, when should he go out (for the rain prayer)? He said: On Monday! I said: How should he do it? He said: He should take out the pulpit and then go out himself and walk as he goes out for Eid al-Fitr and Eid al-Adha, with the callers in front of him and their sticks in their hands, until when he reaches the place of prayer, he prays two rak'ahs with the people without adhan and iqamah, and then he ascends the pulpit and turns his cloak inside out, placing the part that was on his right side on his left and the part that was on his left side on his right, and then he faces the qiblah and says 'Allahu Akbar' a hundred times in a loud voice, and then he turns to the people from the right side and says 'Subhan Allah' a hundred times in a loud voice, and then he turns to the people from the left side and says 'La ilaha illa Allah' a hundred times in a loud voice, and then he faces the people and says 'Al-hamdu lillah' a hundred times, then he raises his hands and supplicates, and they also supplicate.
So indeed I hope that they will not be disappointed.
The narrator said: He did these things, and when we returned, it rained, and they said: This is from the teachings of Ja'far, peace be upon him!
📚 Al-Kafi, vol. 3, p. 462
Hisham ibn al-Hakam said: I asked Imam Sadiq, peace be upon him, about the rain prayer; The Imam said: It is like the Eid al-Fitr and Eid al-Adha prayers. It is recited and takbir is said just as it is recited and takbir is said in the two Eid prayers.
The leader of the prayer goes out and stands in a clean place in an open area with calmness, dignity, reverence, and humility, and the people also come with him to that open area. Then he praises and glorifies Allah and extols Him and tries hard in supplication and says 'Subhan Allah' and 'Allahu Akbar' and 'La ilaha illa Allah' a lot and in supplication, request, and effort, he prays two rak'ahs like the Eid al-Fitr and Eid al-Adha prayers, and when the Imam says the salam, he turns his cloak inside out and places the side that was on his right shoulder on his left shoulder and the side that was on his left shoulder on his right shoulder, for the Prophet, peace be upon him and his family, did this!
✅ Some of the points from the above narrations and others:
1 The rain prayer is performed in an open space and in the wilderness, and its recitation is audible.
2 For performing the rain prayer, one fasts on Saturday, Sunday, and Monday, and on Monday, they go out for the 'istisqa' prayer.
3 The rain prayer is before the sermon and supplication.
4 The general method of the rain prayer is like the Eid al-Fitr and Eid al-Adha prayers, which has no adhan and iqamah. After the 'takbirat al-ihram' and the recitation of Surah Al-Fatihah and a surah, five takbirs are said, and between them, supplication and 'qunut' are recited, and then the takbir for bowing is said and we go into prostration, so the total takbirs of the first rak'ah, along with the 'takbirat al-ihram' and the takbir for bowing, are seven takbirs, with five supplications and qunuts during its takbirs.
In the second rak'ah, also, after the recitation of Surah Al-Fatihah and a surah, four takbirs are said, and between them, supplication and qunut are said, and then the fifth takbir is said and we go into bowing, so a total of five takbirs with four supplications between them are said in the second rak'ah.
5 After the prayer, the leader of the prayer ascends the pulpit and takes his cloak, which is a rectangular piece of cloth that is thrown over the shoulders, and turns it inside out and puts it back on his shoulders so that the right side comes to the left and the left side comes to the right, which is a metaphor for changing drought to an abundance of rain.
6 Then the leader of the prayer faces the qiblah and says 'Allahu Akbar' a hundred times in a loud voice, and then he turns to the people from the right side and says 'Subhan Allah' a hundred times in a loud voice, and then he turns to the people from the left side and says 'La ilaha illa Allah' a hundred times in a loud voice, and then he faces the people and says 'Al-hamdu lillah' a hundred times.
Then the leader of the prayer sits down and raises their hands and supplicates, and the people say 'Ameen', and the people also supplicate.
✅ For the supplication, one can use, for example, the supplication 19 of Sahifa Sajjadiyya.
✅ Due to the lack of rainfall this year, it is suggested that the believers in every city should take action with a worthy leader of the prayer in this month of Ramadan to perform the rain prayer. If Allah wills.
✅ In the next parts, a sermon containing the rain supplication from Amir al-Mu'minin, peace be upon him, for the rain prayer and supplications from Imam Hasan and Husayn, peace be upon them, for seeking rain will be mentioned, which can be used after the rain prayer.

✅ End of the sermon and supplication of Amir al-Mu'minin, peace be upon him, for seeking rain.
✅ The above sermon can be read after the rain prayer, which also contains the rain supplication.
10 A group of people from Kufa came to Ali ibn Abi Talib, peace be upon him, and said: O Amir al-Mu'minin! Please make supplications for us for seeking rain. So Amir al-Mu'minin, peace be upon him, called Imam Hasan and Imam Husayn, peace be upon them, and said: O Hasan! Supplicate! So Imam Hasan al-Mujtaba, peace be upon him, supplicated:
Then Amir al-Mu'minin, peace be upon him, said to Imam Husayn, peace be upon him: Supplicate! So Imam Husayn, peace be upon him, supplicated like this:
So before their words were finished, Allah sent down the rain water!
So Salman al-Farsi was asked: O Abu Abdullah, are these supplications something that has been taught to these two? Salman said: Woe to you! Have you not heard the words of the Messenger of Allah, peace be upon him and his family, where he says: Wisdom has flowed on the tongues of my Ahl al-Bayt!
