1 عَنْ عَمَّارٍ السَّابَاطِيِّ عَنْ أَبِي عَبْدِ اللَّهِ قَالَ: سَأَلْتُهُ عَنِ الرَّجُلِ إِذَا أَرَادَ أَنْ يَسْتَنْجِيَ بِایما يَبْدَأُ بِالْمَقْعَدَةِ أَوْ بِالْإِحْلِيلِ فَقَالَ بِالْمَقْعَدَةِ ثُمَّ بِالْإِحْلِيلِ.

Ammar said: I asked Imam Sadiq, peace be upon him, about a person who wants to perform istinja (purification). Which should he start with: the anus or the penis? He said: With the anus and then the penis!
2 عَنْ أَبِي جَعْفَرٍ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ عَلِيٍّ وَ ذُكِرَ الِاسْتِنْجَاءُ فَقَالَ إِذَا أَنْقَيْتَ مَا هُنَاكَ فَاغْسِلْ يَدَكَ

Imam Baqir, peace be upon him, said: When you have cleansed that area (meaning the anus), wash your hand!

Imam Sadiq, peace be upon him, said: When a person urinates and nothing else comes out of him, then it is only upon him to wash his penis and he does not wash his anus. And if something came out of his anus and he did not urinate, it is only upon him to wash his anus and he does not wash his penis!
