Answer

✅Answer: In some chapters (surahs) of the Quran, there are verses that necessitate prostration (sujud). When reciting or listening to them, one must prostrate. To learn about these instances and their rulings, pay attention to the following narrations:

📚Al-Kafi, vol. 3, p. 317

Translation: Imam Sadiq, peace be upon him, said: 'When you recite something from the 'Aza'im (the obligatory prostration chapters), do not say 'Allahu Akbar' before prostrating, but when you raise your head from prostration, say 'Allahu Akbar.' The 'Aza'im (obligatory prostration chapters) are four: Surah 'Ha Mim Sajdah' and Surah 'Tanzil (Fussilat)' and Surah 'Najm' and Surah 'Alaq.'

✅Note: In each of these four chapters, there is a verse which, if recited or listened to, requires a person to prostrate according to the narrations.

📚Al-Kafi, vol. 3, p. 317

Translation: Abu Basir said: '(The Imam) said: 'When something from the four 'Aza'im is recited and you hear it, then prostrate even if you are without wudu, even if you are in a state of major ritual impurity (janabah), and even if it is a woman who (because of menstruation or postpartum bleeding) does not pray. As for the other places in the Quran that have prostrations, you have a choice; if you wish, you can prostrate, and if you wish, you do not prostrate.'

✅Note: Besides the four mentioned cases, there are 11 other instances where there is a verse of prostration. According to the above narration, we have a choice whether to perform or not to perform prostration when reciting or listening to them.

📚Tahdheeb, vol. 1, p. 27

Translation: Zurarah and Muhammad ibn Muslim said: 'We said to Imam Sadiq, peace be upon him: 'Can a menstruating woman and a person in a state of major ritual impurity recite anything from the Quran?' The Imam said: 'Yes, they can recite whatever they wish from the Quran, except for the chapters of prostration, and they can engage in the remembrance of Allah in any state.'

📚Ilal Al-Shara'i, vol. 1, p. 233

Translation: Imam Baqir, peace be upon him, said in a hadith: 'My father Ali ibn Husayn, peace be upon them both, never remembered any divine blessing upon himself except that he prostrated, and he never recited any verse from the Quran that had a prostration in it except that he prostrated... He was therefore named 'Sajjad' (the one who prostrates a lot).'

Imam Sadiq, peace be upon him, said: 'When one of you recites a prostration verse from the 'Aza'im chapters, he should say in his prostration:

📚Al-Kafi, vol. 3, p. 328

Sheikh Saduq said: 'It has been narrated that in the prostration of the 'Aza'im chapters, one should say:

Then he raises his head from prostration and then says 'Allahu Akbar.'

📚Man La Yahduruhu Al-Faqih, vol. 1, p. 307

✅In the hadith from 📚Sara'ir, vol. 3, p. 605, Imam Sadiq, peace be upon him, said regarding the prostrations of the Quran: 'When you prostrate, say what you would say (from the remembrances) in prostration.'

✅Based on this hadith, the remembrances of the prayer prostration are also sufficient.

📚Al-Kafi, vol. 3, p. 318

Translation: Imam Baqir or Imam Sadiq, peace be upon them, said: 'Do not recite anything from the 'Aza'im chapters (the four chapters containing obligatory prostration) in an obligatory prayer, for prostrating a lot is in the obligatory prayer.'

✅Meaning, reciting these four chapters makes prostration obligatory when reciting the prostration verse, and this prostration adds to the obligatory prayer.
