📚 Al-Kafi, vol. 6, p. 33

Imam Sadiq, peace be upon him, said: The Messenger of Allah, peace be upon him and his family, named Hasan and Husayn, peace be upon them, on the seventh day and performed an 'aqiqah' for each of them with a sheep and sent the leg of the sheep to the midwife, and they ate from the rest of it and gave some as a gift to the neighbors, and Fatimah, peace be upon her, shaved their heads and gave silver as charity equal to its weight!

📚 Al-Kafi, vol. 6, p. 32

Imam Sadiq, peace be upon him, said: He (i.e., the newborn's father) and none of his dependents should eat from the 'aqiqah'. And he said: A third of the 'aqiqah' is for the midwife, and if her midwife is the man's mother or from his dependents, there is nothing from the 'aqiqah' for her. And the 'aqiqah' is cut limb by limb and he cooks it and divides it and does not give it except to the people of 'wilayah' (governance/guardianship). And he said: Everyone eats from the 'aqiqah' except the mother.

📚 Al-Kafi, vol. 6, p. 32

Imam Sadiq, peace be upon him, said about 'aqiqah': Do not feed any of it to the mother.

📚 Al-Kafi, vol. 6, p. 32

Imam Sadiq, peace be upon him, said: The woman should not eat from the 'aqiqah' of her child, and there is no problem with giving some of its meat to a needy neighbor.

✅ It is clear from the above narrations that those who are prohibited from eating from the 'aqiqah' are the newborn's father and mother, the newborn's paternal grandmother, and all the dependents and those who are fed by that man. Of course, besides the newborn's mother, the rest of the people are permitted to use the 'aqiqah', but in the most complete state, the parents and all of that man's dependents, as well as that man's mother, do not use the 'aqiqah'.

However, according to the above narrations, a quarter or a third or a leg with the thigh or a part of the 'aqiqah' meat is given to the midwife, and if there is no midwife, it is for his mother to give to whomever she wants, and the mother herself is not allowed to consume it.

✅ It is also recommended that the 'aqiqah' meat be cooked with water and salt or in another way, and ten or more people are invited to it to eat and pray for the newborn, and it can also be given as charity and a gift and given to a needy neighbor, which, in all cases, it is necessary that the 'aqiqah' meat be given only to the 'people of wilayah'.
