The Imam wrote in reply: 'You distribute Zakat al-Fitr among those who are present in that (city), and you do not send it to another city, even if you do not find a suitable recipient!'

So if you do not find its people, it is for those who do not have hostility, and it is not to be transferred from one land to another,' and he said: 'The Imam is more knowledgeable about it; he places it wherever he wishes and does with it what he sees fit!'

📚 Al-Tahdhib, vol. 4, p. 77
Imam Sadegh, peace be upon him, said about Zakat al-Fitr: 'There is no problem if you set it aside and are looking for its recipient or waiting for a person for it!'
✅ According to the above and other narrations, if a person is traveling on the day of Eid al-Fitr, there will be two ways for them to pay Zakat al-Fitr:
1 According to narrations 1, 2, and 3 and others like them, they should pay their Zakat al-Fitr on the very day of Eid al-Fitr and in the city they have traveled to.
2 According to narration 4 , they can instruct their family in their hometown to pay the Zakat al-Fitr that is due on them on their behalf.
✅ Of course, given the permission to set aside Zakat al-Fitr and pay it after the prayer and at a later time, they can set it aside on the day of Eid and then pay it in their hometown, especially in situations where they cannot find a recipient for Zakat al-Fitr in the city they have traveled to.
