Question 97: In a transaction, we agree on the price, but we don't specify a particular time for payment. According to Islamic law, when should the buyer pay for the goods?
✅پاسخ :عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ یَحْیَی عَنْ أَحْمَدَ بْنِ مُحَمَّدٍ عَنْ أَحْمَدَ بْنِ الْحَسَنِ عَنْ عَمْرِو بْنِ سَعِیدٍ عَنْ مُصَدِّقِ بْنِ صَدَقَةَ عَنْ عَمَّارِ بْنِ مُوسَی عَنْ أَبِی عَبْدِ اللَّهِ فی حدیث... وَ الثَّمَنُ إِذَا لَمْ یَکُونَا اشْتَرَطَا فَهُوَ نَقْدٌ

Translation: Imam al-Sadiq (AS) said in a narration: The price (of the goods in the transaction) is considered immediate if the buyer and seller do not set a specific time (for payment).
Explanation: Based on the above narration, if the parties to the transaction do not set a specific time for payment, the transaction is considered immediate, and the buyer has no right to delay the payment. This is especially common in transactions between acquaintances, but it is not a proper practice. Whether dealing with small or large items, whether with a familiar person or a stranger, if there is an intention to delay payment, it should be mentioned within the terms of the contract so that the transaction is clear regarding the goods, the price, and the specified time frame, ensuring the transaction is valid.
