1 عَنْ أَبِي عَبْداللَّه قال: صَلَّى رَسُولُ اللَّه بِالنَّاسِ الظُّهْرَ و الْعَصْرَ حِينَ زَالَتِ الشَّمْسُ فِي جَمَاعَةٍ مِنْ غَيْرِ عِلَّةٍ وَ صَلَّى بِهِمُ الْمَغْرِبَ وَ الْعِشَاءَ الْآخِرَةَ قَبْلَ سُقُوطِ الشَّفَقِ مِنْ غَيْرِ عِلَّةٍ فِي جَمَاعَةٍ وَ إِنَّمَا فَعَلَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ لِيَتَّسِعَ الْوَقْتُ عَلَى أُمَّتِه

Imam Sadiq (peace be upon him) said: 'The Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him and his family) led the people in a congregational Dhuhr and Asr prayer at the time of the sun's decline without a reason, and he led the people in a congregational Maghrib and Isha prayer before the disappearance of the twilight without a reason, and indeed the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him and his family) did this so that there would be flexibility for his nation!'

2 صفوان الجمّال قَال: صَلَّى بِنَا أَبُو عَبْداللَّه الظُّهْرَ و الْعَصْرَ عِنْدَ ما زَالَتِ الشَّمْسُ بِأَذَانٍ وَ إِقَامَتَيْنِ و قَال إِنِّي عَلَى حَاجَةٍ فَتَنَفَّلُوا

📚Al-Kafi, Vol. 3, p. 287

Safwan said: 'Imam Sadiq (peace be upon him) led us in the Dhuhr and Asr prayers at the time of the sun's decline with one adhan and two iqamas and said: 'I have something to do, so you should perform your supererogatory prayers!'

3 عَنْ أَبِي عَبْداللَّه قال: كَانَ رَسُولُ اللَّه إِذَا كَانَ فِي سَفَرٍ أَوْ عَجَّلَتْ بِهِ حَاجَةٌ يَجْمَعُ بَيْنَ الظُّهْرِ وَ الْعَصْرِ وَ بَيْنَ الْمَغْرِبِ وَ الْعِشَاءِ الْآخِرَة

Imam Sadiq (peace be upon him) said: 'When the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him and his family) was on a journey or a need made him rush, he would combine the Dhuhr and Asr prayers and the Maghrib and Isha prayers.'

4 عَنْ عباس الناقد قال: تَفَرَّقَ مَا كَانَ فِي يَدِي وَ تَفَرَّقَ عَنِّي حُرَفَائِي فَشَكَوْتُ ذَلِكَ إِلَى أَبِي مُحَمَّدٍ فَقَالَ لِي اجْمَعْ بَيْنَ الصَّلَاتَيْنِ الظُّهْرِ وَ الْعَصْرِ تَرَى مَا تُحِبُّ

Abbas al-Naqid said: 'What was in my possession became scattered, and my partners also separated from me. So I complained about this matter to Abi Muhammad, Imam Askari (peace be upon him);'

Then the Imam said to me: 'Combine the two prayers of Dhuhr and Asr, and you will see what you love!'

5 الْفُضَيْل بْن يَسَار قال: كَانَ عَلِيُّ بْنُ الْحُسَيْنِ يَأْمُرُ الصِّبْيَانَ يَجْمَعُونَ بَيْنَ الْمَغْرِبِ وَ الْعِشَاءِ وَ يَقُولُ هُوَ خَيْرٌ مِنْ أَنْ يَنَامُوا عَنْهَا

Fudayl said: 'Imam Sajjad (peace be upon him) used to order the children to combine the Maghrib and Isha prayers and would say: 'This is better than them falling asleep from it!'

6 أَحدهما قال: الْمُسْتَحَاضَةُ تَكُفُّ عَن الصَّلَاة أَيَّام أَقْرَائِهَا و تَحْتَاطُ بِيَوْمٍ أَوِ اثْنَيْنِ ثُمَّ تَغْتَسِلُ كُلَّ يَوْمٍ و لَيْلَةٍ ثَلَاث مَرَّاتٍ و تَحْتَشِي لِصَلَاةِ الْغَدَاة و تَغْتَسِلُ و تَجْمَعُ بَيْن الظُّهْرِ وَ الْعَصْر بِغُسْل و تَجْمَعُ بَيْنَ الْمَغْرِب و الْعِشَاء بِغُسْل

Imam Baqir or Imam Sadiq (peace be upon them both) said: 'A woman with irregular bleeding (mustahadha) refrains from praying during her days and takes a precaution for one or two days, and then (if the blood passes the cotton), she performs ghusl three times a day and night, and for the Fajr prayer, she places cotton and performs ghusl, and she also combines the Dhuhr and Asr prayers with one ghusl, and she also combines the Maghrib and Isha prayers with one ghusl.'

7 عن أَبِي عَبْداللَّه قال: السُّنَّةُ فِي الْأَذَانِ يَوْمَ عَرَفَةَ أَنْ يُؤَذِّنَ وَ يُقِيمَ لِلظُّهْرِ ثُمَّ يُصَلِّيَ ثُمَّ يَقُومَ فَيُقِيمَ لِلْعَصْرِ بِغَيْرِ أَذَانٍ وَ كَذَلِكَ فِي الْمَغْرِبِ وَ الْعِشَاءِ بِمُزْدَلِفَة

Imam Sadiq (peace be upon him) said: 'The tradition regarding the adhan on the Day of Arafah (for the pilgrims) is that he says the adhan and iqama for the Dhuhr prayer and performs the Dhuhr prayer, and then he stands up and says the iqama for the Asr prayer without an adhan and performs the Asr prayer, and likewise for the Maghrib and Isha prayers in Muzdalifah.'

8 عن امیرالمؤمنین في حديث قال :فَقَالَ الْجَمْعُ بَيْنَ الصَّلَاتَيْنِ يَزِيدُ فِي الرِّزْق

Imam Ali (peace be upon him) said in a hadith: 'Combining the two prayers increases one's provision!'

✅ In addition to the multiple permissions for combining the Dhuhr and Asr prayers and the Maghrib and Isha prayers, both with and without a reason, in some cases like for children's Maghrib and Isha, combining has been recommended, and for a mustahadha woman whose blood passes the cotton, she is commanded to combine the Dhuhr and Asr prayers and the Maghrib and Isha prayers. Also, for pilgrims at Dhuhr and Asr on the Day of Arafah and Maghrib and Isha in Muzdalifah, they are commanded to combine the two prayers.
