✅ Answer:

📚 Al-Faqih, Vol. 1, p. 562

Imam Sadiq (peace be upon him) said: 'Whenever one of you intends to do something, he should not consult anyone until he first consults with Allah, the Blessed and Most High!'

I said: 'May I be sacrificed for you! What is consulting with Allah the Most High?' He said: 'First, you seek goodness from Allah (for example, you say: I seek goodness from Allah by His mercy, a choice in well-being), and then you consult about it, for if a person begins with Allah, He will cause his goodness to flow on the tongue of any of His creation whom He wishes!'

📚 Amali al-Tusi, Vol. 1, p. 281

Ali ibn Muhammad (peace be upon him) narrated from his ancestors from Imam Sadiq (peace be upon him) that he said: 'When one of you has a need, he should consult with Allah, who is his Lord, and if He points to it, he should pursue it, and if not, he should stop in that matter!'

The narrator said: 'I said: How do I know the divine indication?' He said: 'Go into prostration after the obligatory prayer and say one hundred times:

Then seek us (the Ahl al-Bayt) as an intermediary and send blessings upon us and seek our intercession

And then look at what He inspires in you and do that, for this is what Allah has indicated to you in consultation!'

3️⃣ Ali ibn Muhammad narrated from the Ahl al-Bayt (peace be upon them) that a person asked one of their companions what to do about a matter that he was going through and could not find anyone to consult with? The Imam said: 'Consult with your Lord!' He said: 'How?!'

He said: 'Intend your matter in your heart and take two pieces of paper and write 'no' on one and 'yes' on the other, and put them in two balls of clay and place them under the hem of your garment and then say:

Then put your hand in (and take one), so if it contains 'yes' then do it, and if it is 'no' then do not do it. This is how you consult with your Lord (when a consultant is absent)!'

📚 Al-Tahdhib, Vol. 1, p. 181

4️⃣ Imam Sadiq (peace be upon him) said: 'When one of you intends to buy or sell or enter into an matter, he should begin with Allah and ask Him!' I said: 'What should he say for this?' He said: 'He says:

Then he should consult with ten believers, and if he does not find ten believers and only finds five believers, he should consult with each of these five people twice, and if he finds only two, he should consult with these two people five times, and if he finds only one person, he should consult with him ten times!'

📚 Bihar al-Anwar, Vol. 91, p. 252

✅ This is the way to consult with Allah the Most High, where after seeking goodness from the Lord, one consults with the believers and a decision is made based on their viewpoint.

✅ Note:

5️⃣ Imam Sadiq (peace be upon him) said: 'Indeed, consultation is not (correct and useful) except with its limits, so if a person knows it with its limits, then it is good, and otherwise, its harm to the one who consults is greater than its benefit... ' and then the Imam mentioned some of its limits.
