✅ Answer: Please pay attention to the following narration:

📚 Al-Kafi, Vol. 4, p. 8

Imam Sadiq (peace be upon him) narrated from his ancestors that the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him and his family) said: 'If a male beggar knocks on your door at night, do not turn him away!'

✅ In the above narration, there is a specific recommendation not to turn away a male beggar at night.

Some people have mistakenly assumed that according to the above narration, giving charity to a female beggar at night is disliked! However, the text of this narration has no indication of this, and the notion of it being disliked to help a female beggar at night, which exists in some people's minds, has no basis.

✅ Although turning away a male beggar at night is specifically forbidden in the above narration, it is generally forbidden to turn away a beggar in numerous narrations. Among them are:

📚 Al-Kafi, Vol. 4, p. 15

Imam Baqir (peace be upon him) said: 'Give to the beggar, even if he is on the back of a horse!'

📚 Al-Kafi, Vol. 4, p. 20

Imam Baqir (peace be upon him) said in a hadith: 'If the giver knew what is in giving and generosity, no one would turn away anyone!'

📚 Al-Kafi, Vol. 4, p. 15

Sa'id ibn al-Musayyab said: 'One day I was present with Imam Sajjad (peace be upon him) after he had performed the morning prayer, and suddenly I saw a beggar at his door.'

So Imam Sajjad (peace be upon him) said: 'Give to the beggar and do not turn away any beggar!'

📚 Qur'b al-Isnad, p. 46

The Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him and his family) said: 'Turn away the beggar with a small gift (even if) and with gentleness and kindness,

For (perhaps) one who is neither human nor jinn stands at your door to see how you behave concerning what Allah has entrusted to you!'

✅ In another narration, including in 📚 Al-Kafi, Vol. 4, p. 15, it is stated that

Sometimes an angel from the angels comes to people in the form of a beggar to test the servant!

📚 Al-Ja'fariyat, p. 57

The Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him and his family) said: 'The beggar is a messenger of the Lord of the worlds to test (people) through him, so whoever gives to him has (in reality) given to Allah, and whoever turns him away has indeed turned away Allah, the Most High!'
