1️⃣ Muhammad ibn Fudayl said: Imam Reza (peace be upon him) narrated for us from his father from his grandfather and he from his ancestors that the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him and his family), on the first day of the month of Muharram, would pray two rak'ahs, and when he was finished, he would raise his hands and recite this supplication three times:

اللَّهُمَّ أَنْتَ الْإِلَهُ الْقَدِیمُ وَ هَذِهِ سَنَةٌ جَدِیدَةٌ فَأَسْأَلُکَ فِیهَا الْعِصْمَةَ مِنَ الشَّیْطَانِ وَ الْقُوَّةَ عَلَی هَذِهِ النَّفْسِ الْأَمَّارَةِ بِالسُّوْءِ وَ الِاشْتِغَالَ بِمَا یُقَرِّبُنِی إِلَیْکَ یَا کَرِیمُ یَا ذَا الْجَلَالِ وَ الْإِکْرَامِ یَا عِمَادَ مَنْ لَا عِمَادَ لَهُ یَا ذَخِیرَةَ مَنْ لَا ذَخِیرَةَ لَهُ یَا حِرْزَ مَنْ لَا حِرْزَ لَهُ یَا غِیَاثَ مَنْ لَا غِیَاثَ لَهُ یَا سَنَدَ مَنْ لَا سَنَدَ لَهُ یَا کَنْزَ مَنْ لَا کَنْزَ لَهُ یَا حَسَنَ الْبَلَاءِ یَا عَظِیمَ الرَّجَاءِ یَا عِزَّ الضُّعَفَاءِ یَا مُنْقِذَ الْغَرْقَی یَا مُنْجِیَ الْهَلْکَی یَا مُنْعِمُ یَا مُجْمِلُ یَا مُفْضِلُ یَا مُحْسِنُ أَنْتَ الَّذِی سَجَدَ لَکَ سَوَادُ اللَّیْلِ وَ نُورُ النَّهَارِ وَ ضَوْءُ الْقَمَرِ وَ شُعَاعُ الشَّمْسِ وَ دَوِیُّ الْمَاءِ وَ حَفِیفُ الشَّجَرِ یَا اللَّهُ لَا شَرِیکَ لَکَ اللَّهُمَّ اجْعَلْنَا خَیْراً مِمَّا یَظُنُّونَ وَ اغْفِرْ لَنَا مَا لَا یَعْلَمُونَ وَ لَا تُؤَاخِذْنَا بِمَا یَقُولُونَ- حَسْبِیَ اللَّهُ لا إِلهَ إِلَّا هُوَ عَلَیْهِ تَوَکَّلْتُ وَ هُوَ رَبُّ الْعَرْشِ الْعَظِیمِ- آمَنَّا بِهِ کُلٌّ مِنْ عِنْدِ رَبِّنا وَ ما یَذَّکَّرُ إِلَّا أُولُوا الْأَلْبابِ- رَبَّنا لا تُزِغْ قُلُوبَنا بَعْدَ إِذْ هَدَیْتَنا وَ هَبْ لَنا مِنْ لَدُنْکَ رَحْمَةً إِنَّکَ أَنْتَ الْوَهَّابُ.

2 عَنْ جَعْفَرِ بْنِ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ مَسْرُورٍ عَنِ الْحُسَيْنِ بْنِ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ عَامِرٍ عَنْ عَمِّهِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عَامِرٍ عَنْ إِبْرَاهِيمَ بْنِ أَبِي مَحْمُودٍ قَالَ: قَالَ الرِّضَا فِي حَدِيثٍ فَعَلَى مِثْلِ الْحُسَيْنِ فَلْيَبْكِ الْبَاكُونَ فَإِنَّ الْبُكَاءَ عَلَيْهِ يَحُطُّ الذُّنُوبَ الْعِظَامَ ثُمَّ قَالَ كَانَ أَبِي إِذَا دَخَلَ شَهْرُ الْمُحَرَّمِ- لَا يُرَى ضَاحِكاً وَ كَانَتِ الْكَآبَةُ تَغْلِبُ عَلَيْهِ حَتَّى تَمْضِيَ عَشَرَةُ أَيَّامٍ فَإِذَا كَانَ يَوْمُ الْعَاشِرِ- كَانَ ذَلِكَ الْيَوْمُ يَوْمَ مُصِيبَتِهِ وَ حُزْنِهِ وَ بُكَائِهِ وَ يَقُولُ هُوَ الْيَوْمُ الَّذِي قُتِلَ فِيهِ الْحُسَيْنُ

Imam Reza (peace be upon him) said in a hadith: 'Those who cry should cry for someone like Hussein (peace be upon him), for indeed, crying for him washes away great sins!'

Then he said: 'My father, when the month of Muharram would enter, would no longer be seen smiling, and sadness would overcome him until ten days of the month of Muharram had passed, and when the tenth day came, that day was a day of his calamity, sadness, and crying, and he would say: 'This is the day on which Hussein (peace be upon him) was killed...''
