1 عَنْ عَلِيٍّ فِي حَدِيثِ الْأَرْبَعِمِائَةِ قَالَ: تَنَزَّهُوا عَنْ قُرْبِ الْكِلَابِ فَمَنْ أَصَابَ الْكَلْبَ وَ هُوَ رَطْبٌ فَلْيَغْسِلْهُ وَ إِنْ كَانَ جَافّاً فَلْيَنْضِحْ ثَوْبَهُ بِالْمَاء

📚 Al-Khisal, p. 626

Ali (peace be upon him) said in the Four Hundred Hadiths: 'Keep away from dogs. So, whoever comes into contact with a dog while he is wet, he must wash it. And if he is dry, he should sprinkle water on his clothes.'

2 عَن الْفَضْلِ أَبِي الْعَبَّاسِ قَالَ: قَالَ أَبُو عَبْدِ اللَّهِ إِذَا أَصَابَ ثَوْبَكَ مِنَ الْكَلْبِ رُطُوبَةٌ فَاغْسِلْهُ وَ إِنْ مَسَّهُ جَافّاً فَاصْبُبْ عَلَيْهِ الْمَاءَ

Imam Sadiq (peace be upon him) said: 'If your clothes come into contact with a dog while there is moisture, wash them. And if they are dry, pour water on them.'

3 عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ مُسْلِمٍ قَالَ: سَأَلْتُ أَبَا عَبْدِ اللَّه عَنِ الْكَلْبِ يُصِيبُ شَيْئاً مِنْ جَسَدِ الرَّجُل قَالَ يَغْسِلُ الْمَكَانَ الَّذِي أَصَابَهُ

Muhammad ibn Muslim said: 'I asked Imam Sadiq (peace be upon him) about a dog that comes into contact with a person's body.' The Imam said: 'He should wash the place that it came into contact with.'

✅It is clear from the above narrations and similar ones that if the clothes or body come into contact with a dog while there is moisture, the body and clothes must be washed. But if the contact is without moisture and is dry, it is sufficient to sprinkle or pour water on the place of contact with the dog.

✅But regarding a dog drinking water with its tongue from a water container, which is called 'Wulugh Kalb' (the lapping of a dog), pay attention to the following narrations:

Imam Sadiq (peace be upon him) said: 'When a dog drinks from a container, spill it!'

5 عَنِ الْفَضْلِ أَبِي الْعَبَّاسِ فِي حَدِيثٍ أَنَّهُ سَأَلَ أَبَا عَبْدِ اللَّهِ عَنِ الْكَلْبِ فَقَالَ رِجْسٌ نِجْسٌ لَا تَتَوَضَّأْ بِفَضْلِهِ وَ اصْبُبْ ذَلِكَ الْمَاءَ وَ اغْسِلْهُ بِالتُّرَابِ أَوَّلَ مَرَّةٍ ثُمَّ بِالْمَاء

In a hadith, Fadl asked Imam Sadiq (peace be upon him) about a dog. The Imam said: 'It is foul and unclean. Do not perform wudu from its leftover water, and spill that water, and first wash that container with earth, and then wash it with water.'

6 عَنْ أَبِي عَبْدِ اللَّه فِي حَدِيثٍ قَالَ: لَا يُشْرَبُ سُؤْرُ الْكَلْبِ إِلَّا أَنْ يَكُونَ حَوْضاً كَبِيراً يُسْتَسْقَى مِنْهُ

Imam Sadiq (peace be upon him) said: 'Water that a dog has come into contact with and used should not be drunk, unless it is a large pool from which water is taken (in interpreting this narration, pay attention to the next narration as well).'

7 مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ مُسْلِمٍ عَنْ أَبِي عَبْدِ اللَّه وَ سُئِلَ عَنِ الْمَاءِ تَبُولُ فِيهِ الدَّوَابُّ وَ تَلَغُ فِيهِ الْكِلَابُ وَ يَغْتَسِلُ فِيهِ الْجُنُبُ قَالَ إِذَا كَانَ الْمَاءُ قَدْرَ كُرٍّ لَمْ يُنَجِّسْهُ شَيْءٌ

When asked about water in which animals urinate and dogs drink from it with their tongues and a person in a state of janabah (major ritual impurity) performs ghusl in it, Imam Sadiq (peace be upon him) said: 'When the water reaches the amount of a Kurr, nothing makes it unclean.'

8 الصَّدُوقُ فِي الْمُقْنِعِ، فَإِنْ وَقَعَ كَلْبٌ فِي إِنَاءٍ أَوْ شَرِبَ مِنْهُ أُهَرِيقَ الْمَاءُ وَ غُسِلَ الْإِنَاءُ ثَلَاثَ مَرَّاتٍ مَرَّةً بِالتُّرَابِ وَ مَرَّتَيْنِ بِالْمَاءِ ثُمَّ يُجَفَّفُ

Shaykh Saduq says in the book Al-Muqni', in the introduction of which he stated that its contents are authentically narrated and from the principles of the companions: 'If a dog enters a container or drinks from it, the water should be spilled, and the container should be washed three times: once with earth and twice with water, and then it should be dried.'

✅According to the above hadiths, if a dog enters a water container or laps from it, that water should be spilled, and that container should be rubbed with earth once and then washed with water twice and then dried.

✅Regarding a container from which a pig has drunk, pay attention to the following narration:

9 عَنْ عَلِيِّ بْنِ جَعْفَرٍ عَنْ مُوسَى بْنِ جَعْفَرٍ فِي حَدِيثٍ قَالَ: وَ سَأَلْتُهُ عَنْ خِنْزِيرٍ شَرِبَ مِنْ إِنَاءٍ كَيْفَ يُصْنَعُ بِهِ قَالَ يُغْسَلُ سَبْعَ مَرَّاتٍ

'Ali ibn Ja'far said: 'I asked Musa ibn Ja'far (peace be upon him) about a pig that drinks from a container, what should be done with it?' He said: 'It should be washed seven times.'
