Answer
✅Answer: Please pay attention to the following narrations:
📚 Al-Tahdhib Vol. 2, p. 354
In a narration, Ammar said: 'I asked Imam Sadiq (peace be upon him) about a person who prays three rak'ahs and thinks it is four rak'ahs, and when he gives the salutation, he remembers that it was three rak'ahs; the Imam said: 'Whenever he remembers, he should continue his prayer (i.e., continue praying) and pray one more rak'ah, and then recite the tashahhud and give the salutation, and perform two prostrations of forgetfulness, and his prayer is permissible and correct.'
📚 Al-Tahdhib Vol. 2, p. 355
Imam Sadiq (peace be upon him) said in a narration: 'Indeed, this is like someone who has made a mistake and given the salutation after one, two, or three rak'ahs, so such a person should continue his prayer (he should continue it).'
📚 Al-Tahdhib Vol. 2, p. 180
Hazrami said: 'I led my companions in the Maghrib prayer; when I had prayed two rak'ahs, I gave the salutation (by mistake)! One of them said to me: 'You have prayed two rak'ahs!' And I repeated my prayer.'
I informed Imam Sadiq (peace be upon him) of this incident; the Imam said: 'Perhaps you repeated your prayer?!' I said: 'Yes.' The Imam smiled and said: 'It would have been sufficient for you to stand up and pray one more rak'ah!'
📚 Al-Tahdhib Vol. 2, p. 191
Zurarah asked Imam Sadiq (peace be upon him) about a person who makes a mistake after two rak'ahs and (gives the salutation) and speaks; the Imam said: 'He completes the rest of his prayer, whether he has spoken or not, and nothing is his responsibility (he does not have to repeat it).'
📚 Al-Tahdhib Vol. 2, p. 350
Ayyas said: 'I asked Imam Sadiq (peace be upon him) about a person who forgets one rak'ah of his prayer until he finishes it (i.e., he gives the salutation) and then remembers that he has not prayed one rak'ah; the Imam said: 'He stands up and prays the one rak'ah and performs two prostrations.'
📚 Al-Tahdhib Vol. 2, p. 346
Abi Basir said: 'I asked Imam Sadiq (peace be upon him) about a person who prays two rak'ahs and then stands up and goes about his business; the Imam said: 'He should start the prayer from the beginning!' I said: 'Why did the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him and his family) not start the prayer from the beginning when he had prayed two rak'ahs?' He said: 'The Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him and his family) had not moved from his place.'
✅In the above narrations, it is observed that if a person accidentally gives the salutation in the wrong place during prayer, provided that he has not moved from his spot, even if he has spoken or talked, his prayer does not need to be repeated. Such a person should stand up and continue his prayer and perform two prostrations of forgetfulness, but if he has stood up and moved from his spot, he should start the prayer from the beginning.
