Question 349: Is it a problem if, during prostration (Sujud), the worshipper's chador (prayer veil) acts as a barrier between their palms and the ground?
Answer
✅Answer: Please pay attention to the following narrations:
📚Al-Kafi, Vol. 3, p. 334
Translation: Imam Baqir (peace be upon him) said in a hadith: 'When you want to prostrate, raise your hands with the Takbir and go into prostration. First, place your hands on the ground, and if there is a cloth or clothing under your hands, it does not harm you, but if you can reach the ground with your hands, it is more virtuous and better.'
📚Al-Kafi, Vol. 2, p. 309
Translation: Imam Baqir (peace be upon him) said: 'If you prostrate while your clothing is between your palms and the ground, there is no problem.'
✅It is clearly evident from the two narrations above that when we place our palms on the ground during prostration, it is better if we can directly touch the ground with our palms. However, there is no problem if clothing, a cloth, a chador, or anything else acts as a barrier or obstacle between the palms and the ground. The important thing is that the palms, which are among the parts of the body for prostration, are placed on the ground, whether with or without a barrier.
