✅Answer: Please pay attention to the following narrations:

📚Al-Tahdhib, Vol. 3, p. 175

Translation: Zurarah and Muhammad ibn Muslim said: We said to Imam Baqir (peace be upon him): Should one pray for these winds and darknesses that occur? He said: For all fearful heavenly events, whether it is darkness or wind or a great fright and terror, pray the prayer of a solar/lunar eclipse until it ceases.

📚Amali by Shaykh Saduq, p. 375

Translation: Imam Baqir (peace be upon him) said: Earthquakes, solar and lunar eclipses, and terrifying winds are among the signs of the Hour (Day of Judgment). So when you see any of them, remember the establishment of the Hour (Day of Judgment) and seek refuge in the mosques.

📚Al-Muqni'a, p. 35

Translation: Imam Sadiq (peace be upon him) said: The Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him and his family) said: Indeed, the moon and the sun do not get eclipsed for the death or life of anyone, but they are two signs from the signs of Allah. So when you see them, hasten to your mosques for prayer.

📚Al-Tahdhib, Vol. 2, p. 264

Translation: Imam Sadiq (peace be upon him) said in a hadith: Indeed, your east and west are your responsibility, and it is not the responsibility of people to search.

✅Based on the narrations, a few of which have been mentioned, the obligation of the prayer of 'Ayat' is when those signs are seen and observed, and what is the responsibility of the people is their own east and west. There is no evidence for the obligation of the prayer of the eclipse for other cities and regions, and there is no evidence that the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him and his family) and the Commander of the Faithful Ali (peace be upon him) would pray the prayer of 'Ayat' in their region when an eclipse, earthquake, etc., occurred in other regions where that sign was not observed. Therefore, the predictions of astronomers and the spread of the news of a solar or lunar eclipse in all places do not make the prayer of 'Ayat' obligatory for the people of regions who have not seen it and where it is not observable. The prayer of 'Ayat' is only prayed in the region where an earthquake has occurred or a solar or lunar eclipse has happened or terrifying winds have blown.
