Question 2174: Is there any prohibition against reciting Surah Al-Waqi'ah, the Musabbihat Surahs, etc., while lying down?

✅ Answer: Pay attention to the following ahadith:
1 عَنْ مُعَاوِیَةَ بْنِ عَمَّارٍ عَنْ أَبِی عَبْدِ اللَّهِ فِی وَصِیَّةِ النَّبِیِّ لِعَلِیٍّ قَالَ:... وَ عَلَیْکَ بِتِلَاوَةِ الْقُرْآنِ عَلَی کُلِّ حَالٍ.
📚 Al-Kafi, Vol. 8, p. 79
Imam Sadiq (peace be upon him) said: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him and his family) said in his bequest to the Commander of the Faithful (peace be upon him): ...and upon you is the recitation of the Quran in every state!
2 قَالَ الصَّادِقُ : كُلُّ شَيْءٍ مُطْلَقٌ حَتَّى يَرِدَ فِيهِ نَهْيٌ

Imam Sadiq (peace be upon him) said: Everything is permissible (free) until a prohibition regarding it reaches you!
3 عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ طَلْحَةَ عَنْ جَعْفَرٍ قَالَ: قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ مَنْ قَرَأَ قُلْ هُوَ اللَّهُ أَحَدٌ مِائَةَ مَرَّةٍ حِینَ یَأْخُذُ مَضْجَعَهُ غَفَرَ اللَّهُ لَهُ ذُنُوبَ خَمْسِینَ سَنَةً.

Imam Sadiq (peace be upon him) said: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him and his family) said: Whoever recites Surah 'Qul Huwa Allahu Ahad' one hundred times when he gets into his bed, Allah the Exalted will forgive his sins of fifty years!
4 عَنْ قَیْسِ بْنِ رَبِیعٍ عَنْ أَبِی عَبْدِ اللَّهِ قَالَ: مَنْ أَوَی إِلَی فِرَاشِهِ فَقَرَأَ قُلْ هُوَ اللَّهُ أَحَدٌ إِحْدَی عَشْرَةَ مَرَّةً حَفِظَهُ اللَّهُ فِی دَارِهِ وَ فِی دُوَیْرَاتٍ حَوْلَهُ.

Imam Sadiq (peace be upon him) said: Whoever gets into his bed and recites Surah 'Qul Huwa Allahu Ahad' eleven times, Allah the Exalted will protect him regarding his home and several homes around him!
5 عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ سِنَانٍ عَنْ أَبِی عَبْدِ اللَّهِ أَنَّهُ قَالَ: مَنْ قَرَأَ إِذَا أَوَی إِلَی فِرَاشِهِ قُلْ یَا أَیُّهَا الْکَافِرُونَ وَ قُلْ هُوَ اللَّهُ أَحَدٌ کَتَبَ اللَّهُ لَهُ بَرَاءَةً مِنَ الشِّرْکِ.

Imam Sadiq (peace be upon him) said: Whoever recites Surah 'Qul Ya Ayyuha al-Kafirun' and Surah 'Qul Huwa Allahu Ahad' when he gets into his bed, Allah writes for him immunity from polytheism!
✅ According to the above principles and texts, among others, reciting the Quran while lying down in bed or otherwise is not prohibited.
