📚 Kamal al-Din, p. 317

Imam Hassan al-Mujtaba (peace be upon him) said in a narration: There is none among us (the Imams) but a pledge of allegiance (Bay'ah) from the tyrant of his time is placed on his neck, except for the Qa'im (the Riser) behind whom Jesus son of Mary (peace be upon him) will pray, for Allah the Almighty conceals his birth and hides his person, so that when he emerges, there is no pledge of allegiance from anyone on his neck!

2 عن إسحاق بن يعقوب قال سألت محمد بن عثمان العمري رضي الله عنه أن يوصل لي كتابا قدسألت فيه عن مسائل أشكلت علي فوردت في التوقيع بخط مولانا صاحب الزمان...إِنَّهُ لَمْ یَكُنْ أَحَدٌ مِنْ آبَائِی إِلَّا وَقَعَتْ فِی عُنُقِهِ بَیْعَةٌ لِطَاغِیَةِ زَمَانِهِ وَ إِنِّی أَخْرُجُ حِینَ أَخْرُجُ وَ لَا بَیْعَةَ لِأَحَدٍ مِنَ الطَّوَاغِیتِ فی عُنُقِی...

Is'haq ibn Ya'qub said: I asked Muhammad ibn Uthman al-Amri to deliver a letter in which I had inquired about matters that were difficult for me to (Imam al-Mahdi, peace be upon him). Then the answer came in the handwriting of our Master Imam al-Mahdi (peace be upon him) in the TAWQI' (signed decree): ... Indeed, none of my ancestors were but a pledge of allegiance from the tyrant of his time was placed on his neck, and indeed, I will emerge while there is no pledge of allegiance from any of the tyrants on my neck!

3 عن أَبِی عَبْداللَّهِ قال: یَقُومُ الْقَائِمُ وَ لَیْسَ لِأَحَدٍ فِی عُنُقِهِ عَهْدٌ و لَا عَقْدٌ و لَا بَیْعَة

📚 Al-Kafi, Vol. 1, p. 342

Imam Sadiq (peace be upon him) said: The Qa'im (peace be upon him) will rise while there is no covenant, pledge, or allegiance to anyone on his neck!

في کتاب سليم... وَ قد كان قنفذ لعنه الله حين ضرب فاطمة بالسوط - حين حالت بينه وبين زوجها - و أرسل اليه عمر: ان حالت بينك وبينه فاطمة فاضربها! فألجأها قنفذ الى عضادة بيتها و دفعها، فكسر ضلعها من جنبها، فألقت جنيناً من بطنها، فلم تزل صاحبة فراش حتى ماتت صلى الله عليها من ذلك شهيدة. قال: ولما انتهي بعلي الى أبي بكر انتهره عمر، وقال له : بايع ودع عنك هذه الأباطيل، فقال له : فان لم أفعل فما أنتم صانعون؟ قالوا: نقتلك ذلاً وصغاراً!! فقال: اذا تقتلون عبداً الله، وأخا رسوله، قال أبو بكر: أما عبدالله فنعم، وأما أخا رسول الله فما نقر بهذا...

📚 Kitab Sulaym ibn Qays, p. 40

It is narrated in Kitab Sulaym ibn Qays: And Qunfudh (may Allah curse him) struck Fatima (peace be upon her) with the whip when she stood between him and her husband - and Umar had sent to him: If Fatima stands between you and him, strike her!

Qunfudh forcefully cornered Fatima (peace be upon her) against the door frame and pillar of her house and pushed her, until a rib from her side broke, and she miscarried her fetus. She remained bedridden because of that until she died as a martyr (peace be upon her)!

He said: When Ali (peace be upon him) was brought before Abu Bakr, Umar shouted at him and said: Pledge allegiance and abandon these falsehoods!

Ali (peace be upon him) replied: If I do not, what will you do? They said: We will kill you in humiliation and disgrace!! Ali (peace be upon him) said: In that case, you will be killing a servant of Allah and the brother of His Messenger! Abu Bakr said: 'Abdullah, yes, but the brother of the Messenger of Allah, no, we do not accept this!

6 عن حمران بن أعین عن أَبِی عَبْداللَّهِ جَعْفَرِ بْنِ مُحَمَّدٍ علیهما السلام قَالَ: وَ اللَّهِ مَا بَایَعَ عَلِیٌّ حَتَّی رَأَی الدُّخَانَ قَدْ دَخَلَ بَیْتَهُ.

📚 Bihar al-Anwar, Vol. 28, p. 390

Imam Sadiq (peace be upon him) said: By Allah, Amir al-Mu'minin (peace be upon him) did not pledge allegiance, except when they saw that the smoke (of the fire) had entered his house!

✅ From the general evidence and numerous narrative and historical texts, it is clear that Amir al-Mu'minin (peace be upon him) was compelled and forced to seemingly pledge allegiance to the first usurper in order to prevent the apostasy of the Muslims and for other reasons.

However, the birth of Imam al-Mahdi (peace be upon him) was concealed and his person was hidden so that when he emerges, there is no pledge of allegiance from any tyrant on his neck!
