Question 2063: Is ghusl janabah obligatory for women who experience a wet dream?

Answer
✅ Answer: Refer to the following narrations:
📚 Al-Kafi, Vol. 3, p. 48
Halbi says: I asked Imam Sadiq (peace be upon him) about a woman who sees in her sleep what a man sees; the Imam said: If she experiences emission of semen, ghusl is obligatory for her, but if there is no emission, ghusl is not required!
📚 Al-Kafi, Vol. 3, p. 48
Abdullah bin Sinan says: I asked Imam Sadiq (peace be upon him) about a woman who sees in her sleep that a man has intercourse with her until she experiences emission; the Imam said: She must perform ghusl!

📚 Al-Tahdheeb, Vol. 1, p. 124
Muhammad bin Ismail says: I asked Imam Abu al-Hasan (peace be upon him) about a woman who sees something in her sleep and experiences emission, is ghusl obligatory for her? The Imam said: Yes!
✅ Based on the above narrations and others, women, like men, are required to perform ghusl janabah if they experience emission due to lust in their sleep.
The criterion for the obligation of ghusl janabah for women in wet dreams is that they experience emission of semen due to lust, which they recognize from a specific internal state, and merely having a lustful dream without emission does not necessitate ghusl.
Emission of semen for women occurs in the state commonly known as orgasm, where the semen moves and is displaced, but it does not necessarily always exit their body, and in most women, it is released inside the womb.
Thus, the criterion for emission of semen in women is the movement and displacement of semen in a state of lust, satisfaction, and orgasm, even if nothing exits the vagina, and in such a case during sleep, women are obligated to perform ghusl janabah.
