Question 2048: Is it permissible to eat the meat of a sheep born from the mating of a mother sheep with her offspring or similar cases?
✅ Answer: Please consider the following narrations:
📚 Al-Kafi, vol. 6, p. 548
Ibn Abi Nasr said: A man asked Imam Reza (peace be upon him) about a pair of pigeons that laid eggs in his care, and the male bird mated with its mother and daughter. The Imam replied: Whatever occurs among animals has no problem!
📚 Al-Faqih, vol. 1, p. 317
Imam Sadiq (peace be upon him) said: Everything is permissible by default unless a prohibition is specifically mentioned regarding it!
✅ Based on the above and other narrations, the prohibition of incest applies only to humans. Mating among animals—even with their mothers or offspring—has no religious issue, and there is no narration prohibiting the consumption of meat resulting from such cases. Therefore, eating such meat is permissible.
