✅ Answer: Consider the following narration:

1⃣عَلِیُّ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ عَنْ أَحْمَدَ بْنِ مُحَمَّدٍ عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ خَالِدٍ عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ الْقَاسِمِ عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ سِنَانٍ قَالَ قَالَ أَبُو عَبْدِ اللَّهِ دَاوُوا مَرْضَاکُمْ بِالصَّدَقَةِ وَ ادْفَعُوا الْبَلَاءَ بِالدُّعَاءِ وَ اسْتَنْزِلُوا الرِّزْقَ بِالصَّدَقَةِ فَإِنَّهَا تُفَکُ مِنْ بَیْنِ لُحِیِّ سَبْعِمِائَةِ شَیْطَانٍ وَ لَیْسَ شَیْءٌ أَثْقَلَ عَلَی الشَّیْطَانِ مِنَ الصَّدَقَةِ عَلَی الْمُؤْمِنِ وَ هِیَ تَقَعُ فِی یَدِ الرَّبِّ تَبَارَکَ وَ تَعَالَی قَبْلَ أَنْ تَقَعَ فِی یَدِ الْعَبْدِ.

Imam Sadiq (peace be upon him) said: Treat your sick with charity, repel affliction with supplication, and bring down sustenance with charity, for charity separates from the roots of seven hundred devils, and nothing is heavier on Satan than giving charity to a believer. It reaches the hand of the Lord, Blessed and Exalted, before it reaches the hand of the servant!

2⃣عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ الْحَسَنِ الصَّفَّارِ عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ عِیسَی فِی حَدِیثٍ قَالَ کَتَبَ إِلَیْهِ إِبْرَاهِیمُ بْنُ عُقْبَةَ یَسْأَلُهُ عَنِ الْفِطْرَةِ هَلْ یَجُوزُ إِعْطَاؤُهَا غَیْرَ مُؤْمِنٍ فَکَتَبَ إِلَیْهِ لَا یَنْبَغِی لَکَ أَنْ تُعْطِیَ زَکَاتَکَ إِلَّا مُؤْمِناً.

📚 Al-Tahdhib, Vol. 4, p. 87

Ibrahim ibn Uqbah wrote to the Imam (peace be upon him) and asked about zakat al-fitr, whether it is permissible to give it to a non-believer. The Imam wrote back: It is not appropriate for you to give your zakat to anyone other than a believer!

3⃣عَنْ أَبِی بَصِیرٍ قَالَ: قُلْتُ لِأَبِی جَعْفَرٍ الرَّجُلُ مِنْ أَصْحَابِنَا یَسْتَحْیِی أَنْ یَأْخُذَ مِنَ الزَّکَاةِ فَأُعْطِیهِ مِنَ الزَّکَاةِ وَ لَا أُسَمِّی لَهُ أَنَّهَا مِنَ الزَّکَاةِ فَقَالَ أَعْطِهِ وَ لَا تُسَمِّ لَهُ وَ لَا تُذِلَّ الْمُؤْمِنَ.

Abu Basir says: I said to Imam Sadiq (peace be upon him): There is a man among our companions who feels ashamed to take anything from zakat! Should I give him from zakat without mentioning that it is zakat? He said: Give to him and do not mention anything, and do not humiliate the believer!

✅ Based on the above narrations and others, giving charity and zakat to a believer is emphasized and, in the case of zakat, considered obligatory.

What is mentioned in the interpretation attributed to Imam Hasan Askari (peace be upon him) regarding the prohibition of giving charity and zakat to a faithful brother and insightful Shiites is contrary to other narrations and is considered rare, and its knowledge is referred back to the Ahl al-Bayt (peace be upon them all).

✅ Although the narrations recommend kindness and support for faithful brothers, there is no prohibition in authentic narrations against giving charity or zakat to a poor or needy faithful brother.
